There was a context behind it around returning the game to the fans.

Much better than watching a group of never-will-be's who can barely sing strut their limited stuff advertising a tv show.

Stuff the context, it was embarrassing drivel served up within half hour of the game starting. The Idol performeres were on stage more than 2 hours before the game started.

LOL at you using Idol performers anyway as your comparison for pregame quality entertainment.

I was listening to the game on the radio as I was coming back from the MotoGP, and they werent even sure what time the game would start !

"Depending on how long the entertainment goes, we should get underway about 5.20 give or take a few minutes."

They were also saying there was some 5,000 un-sold tickets. Is that right ?

Well i wasn't the one who told the AFL to use Idol never-will-be's as entertainment.

& on the timeframe ... Again, you are completely ignoring the fact their timeframes were completely thrown out by the extreme length of the first game as well as 5 additional minutes in the 2nd game.

Of course the entertainment could have been better, and the NRL actually usually do a very good job ... But at least it wasn't the Idol performers the AFL have seen fit to put out there.

(Though in their defence, this years entertainment was vastly improved)

Actually ... I'm a Storm member.

But after the last two weeks, the Storm and Melbourne (Especially the Melbourne media) needed to be taught a lesson.

& Sydney very much handed out that lesson yesterday.

So as a MEMBER you do a happy dance when your team loses?

Even if you disagree with the stuff your club does, you NEVER cheer against them, which it appears you precisely did.

The state Cup game whilst being highly entertaining, completely stuffed them up. I've never seen so many field goals missed in my life.

It was dead set like watching Buddy and Richo having a set shot contest from 30-40 metres out ;)

There was a great deal of talk during the week about there being a ton of unsold seats. Don't know what the capacity was but the crowd was 82k, so if anyone knows what the capacity is that can be worked out.

Actually I'm a Tigers supporter who lives in Melbourne but fully supports expansion of the game, hence my financial support of the local side on top of my Tigers membership.

In complete contradiction to your claims earlier that I don't want to see the game expand & dislike Melbournem solely because they are an expansion side.

Now Crocker is gone (I can't forgive his hit on Stewart last year), I hope the Storm have plenty of success next year, so long as they don't get in the Tigers way of course ;D

FWIW I cheered them in the '06 GF & in last years until what Crocker did.

You sure you're not really Petts? I can just imagine you punching yourself in the head Mel. :hihi

I would think Manly are certainties to go back to back. They will only get better despite losing Bell & Menzies.I would expect Storm to finish around 4th or 5th next year. Will be hard to cover player losses.

So you are telling me the NRL were incapable of thinking that just possibly one of the earlier games may require extra time. And that those games running over time affected the quality of the pregame entertainment. Crikey, no wonder the NRL is in the sh!t. And to think, most use to really rate David Gallup.

Better that you don't back yourself up by claiming to be a member then. If you support the national comp, support another side, but only have a Storm membership to attend games locally, you are hardly a Storm supporter (which you were trying to allude to in raising it as a defense).

I was once a Balmain supporter, but cannot stomach them since the creation of the Storm and more importantly the merger.

I only attended around 3-4 games this year (As i went to far too many Tigers games in Sydney & QLD lol) .... So i got around half the value of my ticket ....

(& no, I bought my GF tickets back in August using my Tigers membership not the Storm one ;))

Actually, my financial support of the team, simply to add my support to the club because they are the local side IS a defence against your ridiculous claim that I don't want the Storm to be successful.

I don't want this particular group of sooking players and officials to have any success no. That's a completely separate issue to being "anti-expansion"

I can fully understand that.

THAT much extra time? No way known.

I accept you are not anti-expansionist, but how the heck are these two sentences compatible? You disagree with me saying you don't want the Storm to succeed on one hand, but then say you don't want "this" Storm to succeed.

A true supporter doesn't pick and choose when they get behind their team, but as you have pointed out you actually support Wests. As such, your feeling towards the Storm is to be treated like that of any other supporter (which generally is to be ignored).

It still wasn't an episode of Australian Idol.

So they have one up on the AFL.
They have nothing up on the AFL,banging some portable barbies on a big stage is as amateurish as you can get.

Not incompatible at all. If you sacked the administration and around 3-4 players from this seasons team, transplanted them with entirely fresh blood under the same clubs banner, then yes I would have loved to have seen them win the Grand Final yesterday. A repeat for the first time since Brisbane in 92-93 (Or arguably 97-98 IF you count the SL title) would have been a fantastic boon in promoting the club down here.

& that precise attitude is why Sydney is rejoicing at what was done to the Storm yesterday.

I wonder if the reality of being the all time worst grand final team really has hit them (Waldron, Bellamy, Crocker and co) yet? At least St George in '75 had an excuse when it was done to them.

FYI I don't support Wests. I support the Tigers.

No, having Australian Idol try outs as entertainment is as woeful as it comes.

Why should your views be paid any attention though? You support WESTS Tigers, and have only sympathies towards the Storm when they are the perfect on and off-field side per your own criteria. I pay no heed to what Collingwood supporters say about Richmond, so why concern myself with what a Wests supporter says about Melbourne?

I think it depends on the poster tiger74.M/Jube supports Wests Tigers but gives very balanced views on any team in the NRL.
