Noah Balta - Welcome to Tigerland

He is a very straight forward bloke is Balta. Just basically says what he thinks, nothing scripted or planned. Reminds me of the way Cathy Freeman used to deal with pressers. Refreshing honesty.
How good is he to listen to!

No cliches. Says it as it is.

Interesting how he said he trained as a forward a couple of years ago and just before round 1 game was told he was playing back - sounds crazy to do that to a player
It was 2022 preseason… where Noah trained as a forward which opened up a spot in the backline for Gibcus… the intention was obviously to use Noah as an attacking swing man but injuries to Balta, Tarrant, Lynch and Riewoldt during the season (13 games) restricted the strategy.

Round 1 v Blues (Loss) Noah started back due match ups as Carlton had McKay, Curnow and De Koning up forward however he was still moved forward during the game… kicked 2.0 (Lynch and Riewoldt played)
Round 2 v GWS (Win) Noah played forward… kicked 4.2 (Lynch played, Riewoldt missed)
Round 3 v Saints (Loss) Noah played forward …. kicked 2.0 (Lynch played, Riewoldt missed)
Round 4 v Doggies (Win) Noah played forward…. kicked nil (Lynch and Riewoldt played)
Round 5 v Crows (Loss) Noah played forward…. kicked 1.1 (Lynch and Riewoldt played)
Round 6 v Dees (Loss) Noah played forward…. kicked nil (Lynch and Riewoldt played)

Tarrant was injured for rounds 7, 8, 9 so Noah was moved to backline which coincided with 3x wins
Round 7 v Eagles (Win)
Round 8 v Pies (Win)
Round 9 v Hawks (Win) Noah subbed off due hamstring

Noah then missed round 10 v Bombers (Win), and round 11 vs Swans (Loss) with a hamstring injury

Round 12 Bye
Round 13 v Port (Win) Noah returned to forward line…. kicked 1.0
Round 14 v Blues (Win) Noah played forward…. kicked 1.0…. subbed off with reoccurrence of hamstring issue

Noah then missed round 15 v Cats (Loss), round 16 v WCE (win) and round 17 v Suns (Loss) with hamstring injury

Round 18 v Roos (Loss) Noah played forward… kicked 1.1 (Riewoldt played, Lynch missed)
Round 19 v Freo (Draw) Noah played forward… kicked 1.2 (Riewoldt played, Lynch missed)
Round 20 v Lions (Win) Noah returned to backline
Round 21 v Port (Win) Noah played back
Round 22 v Hawks (Win) Noah played back
Round 23 v Bombers (Win) Noah played back

Final v Lions (Loss) Noah played back

Was a nice little drive by for his fmr coach. Spice.
Not as bad as Baker telling him to *#<off.
With time the real stories will come out.
#The break up.
#What happened in the Hub.
#Who of the players told him to foff after the news broke he had left his misses
#Cotchin goes to Brisbane and dosent go to see Hardwick

They are the longest # tags I've ever seen. You won't have room left in the tweet Zips.

I reckon we are gone if balta plays foward.
King will destroy No 2nd efforts Young.
And I can see Casboult kicking goals on Brown or Grimes.

This might have been from earlier in the week, but the Age has Balta quoted as saying the following in Today's paper:

“When I was playing in the backline, it’s a lot of gut running, and there’s a lot of better players that are better than me at that,” Balta said.
“I’m a bit more of an explosive player. Yze explained that to me, and it felt like up forward I get to control how much I can run, actually. So instead of chasing somebody else’s backside the whole day I’m very excited.

“I feel like the fans are actually going to like me now.”

That last part is bloody horrible to read. Never not liked this fella.

Balta’s effort was fantastic. Thats all I’ll judge him on.

Yeh, he really had a crack. He started flying for marks. Persist with him forward and relief ruck and let him bang bodies.

Does anyone here have the ability to get a message to Noah? Tell him we don't like him, we love him.

Don't get how he's such a great intercept mark in the backline but seemingly can't take a mark in the forward line, there were 3 or 4 in the second half I wish he grabbed, hopefully he can build a lil more confidence in the forward line to start taking them!

It's confidence!

All confidence. You can tell from everything about his personality.

He got his body to so many markable high balls, but double grabbed in ways that he doesn't where he's comfortable.

Positional changes always take time for that exact reason.

Wait till the game he clunks and kicks a couple early. He'll kick 8.
