Noah Balta - Welcome to Tigerland

He sure does. Of key defenders that had at least 50 contested one on one contests last year he ranked 3rd in the AFL at 13.8% losses.

1 - Weitering 10.9%
2 - Sam Taylor 13.0%
3 - Tylar Young 13.8%
4 - Sicily - 15.4%
5 - May - 15.9%
6 - Andrews - 16.0%
7 - Moore - 16.4%
8 - Nick Murray - 17.5%
9 - Nathan Murphy - 18.5%
10 - Sam Collins - 20%

Pretty good company to be in, not bad for a 1st year player at all.
Where's Miller on that list?

Fantastic stats for a first-year player.

Weltering and Taylor are the best in the business as Power Key Backs. he is in elite company with Andrews and May behind him also.

Not sure if that is a lack of faith in Broady but I recall Dylan Grimes has done a fair job on him as well. If the mids dont allow easy transition I reckon Broady will do ok
He presents a massive challenge.
Think we will double team him with Young and NV.

Broady towelled up Jeremy Cameron in 2023 - or 2022? Same thing as Broady has great endurance Cameron couldn’t get separation

From memory in 2022 Gibcus beat Curnow in round 14, too much to ask at this point but he's been beaten by us a few times fairly recently. Plays deeper nowadays which won't suit us IMO.

Going to have to be patient with this..

It was a typical Balta-as-forward performance. Took a couple of grabs, didn't convert, and went missing for most of the game. Looked better when he ran up the ground as a marking link-man, but, meh. Negligible influence on proceedings.

I honestly believe that if you plonked Miller in the forward line instead of Balta you'd get pretty much the same return in terms of forward presence, without robbing the backline of a guy who, at his best, is imperious.

Must persist as the high key forward. Needs to be encouraged to get on his bike and hit the wings even more once Lynch is back.

Interesting how he said he trained as a forward a couple of years ago and just before round 1 game was told he was playing back - sounds crazy to do that to a player

He is a very straight forward bloke is Balta. Just basically says what he thinks, nothing scripted or planned. Reminds me of the way Cathy Freeman used to deal with pressers. Refreshing honesty.

Said Dimma was erratic and hasn’t responded to any of his texts
