Noah Balta - Welcome to Tigerland

Yep.

Scary how much he resembles Alex Rance.

I even smiled at the turnover because it looked so much like Rance, right down to the low, high speed, slightly ambitious kick inboard.

He tried to part the seas, but wasn’t able to on this occasion.

What I liked most was the 3 efforts he made against 3 opponents in a pocket where he did a 360 to win the contest and grab the ball. It spilt out, but that single piece of play demonstrated a type of urgent ferocity that I’ve only really seen from Rance and Cotchin.

Now it just depends on his ability to continually learn how to be the best, which isn’t easy.

I thought i heard one of the boys call Balta, Don.
Don Johnson Miami VICE.
Those hands were like a VICE. :clap2
8 marks 6 intercept marks 3 contested.

Was wondering if anyone would comment on his fine marking. Held them like in a vice.

Should be a winner for the Tigers.

Had a great game but Melbournes key forwards are the worst in the comp.

Yeah, I loved that too.

Have yet to watch the full game, the best part about Balta is he takes the game on which should serve us well in time, i won't bemoan the missed 50 metre left or right foot passes in the meantime.

Part of the learning process mistakes will happen , but he has that flair end natural ability to take game on we should encourage it.

Looks like Leppa has put a bit of his polish on Balta, just like he did with Rance, in Leppa we trust.

I thought he read the play really well yesterday. Got to the contests, spoiled well, got to the front and took some intercept marks, and took the game on when he needed to. Really good game. I think had 100% game time too, so his tank might be a bit better now.

Will be interesting to see how he goes against Ben Brown in a couple of weeks

most pleased with his timing and reading of the flight. He would usually run under the ball but yesterday he timed it well.

Little whisper
Apparently he has spoken to rival clubs.
One starting with C & ending with D.
I wont be happy if he is the one squeezed out this year.

Nah.
Filth have no room in the cap and still need to resign Moore & Degoey.

We will have space with Rance gone.

Can't see us letting this bloke go anywhere.

According to the often quoted missive from Old Tiger, not only Balta but also Bolton and Chol have contacts for 2021.
there is no chance any of them will be at Collingwood next year,

They’ll be able to get DeGoey cheap. No one will want to go near him. I think Balta will stay. Besides the Pies don’t need another defender as much as they desperately need a key forward. Captain USA is a spud who had one good game in him.

Coachs' votes out: Balta rated 2nd BOG along with Higgo on 6 votes. Lambo 10, of course!

Sure, he'd be tempted to go there for the "culture" !! Plus, to get closer to Eddie.

They can rack off!

Agree with all that, but it's not as if Balta can't play CHF. We have Garthwaite waiting in the wings for his opportunities too. Maybe not a star but I predict he will give the team 100% honest effort and commitment.

Compare Balta's marking with JR8's in that game, or their respective kicking. Love Jack but there are still some troubling signs with his speed loss perhaps in order to break clear on a lead; failure to hold marks he is getting hands on; struggling to score from 40m or so.
