He's a backman. A flanker. That's alright, he's a good one. But he's too small to play ruck-rover in the modern game.

187cm/86kg is too small?

dimma

plays vlastuin in the back pocket

grigg at the center bounce

:spin

Yeah because Grigg is still sprinting after 10 x 400s.
Vlastuin on the oTher hand, hits harder.
They both go ok running through to 50 and dropping a goal through

Too small? He may not make it as on baller but it won't be due to being too small.

Mate I've met vlastuin and he's a tank. He's not short either. The only position he's too small for is CHF OR RUCK

Played mid in his early games. Got +20 posessions in 5 of his first 7 games, rarely done it since..

I am more interested in his opinion on Troy Chaplin, and whether or not he should be in the best 22.

Yes, me too, as. I'm sure we all are. Even better to do it in the Flossy thread...

That's interesting. Seems off than then he hasn't had more of a go though i suppose we have won a lot of games so no need to alter things drastically.

Vlastuin is the second best footballer on our list behind Deledio, it is time to put him the midfield to get maximum value from him instead of having him just make the rest of the backline look competent by continually mopping up for them.

He is one of the few "Both way" players we have who can switch instantly from defence to attack and is not one of the "Downhill Skiers" that you only see play well against crap opponents or when the side is already well on top of an opponent.

I can't see how you came to that conclusion, Rance, Martin, Riewoldt & Cotchin are streets ahead. Vlastuin would struggle to make a top 4 side on present form, he simply needs to increase his production levels, at the moment he's a poor man's Dane Rampe.

Gee our coach makes some dumb decisions at times. I remember he was playing mid at the beginning. Stats show he was doin well. Why all of a sudden has he become a PERMANENT hbf??? Ok play him there but rotate him thru the mid also. He never gets any mid time anymore. Why??????
He can def add to the mid mix. I think he also kicked some goals early on. Very narrow minded coach on this one.

If Hodge is the benchmark then Vlastuin has a lot of work to do, 15 disposals a match isn't good enough for the role he plays, needs to lift the output by about 25% to be considered an A grader. He's heading into his 4th year now so I'll be expecting some significant improvement.
