Nick Vlastuin

Part of a backline that shat itself for much of the day.

They were under the pump because we had a one man midfield

He has no composure when someone is near him. Okay in space but I would like him in the middle. He doesn't handle the responsibility of defence but in the middle he might be more attacking.

Not our worst. Imposed himself on a few games during the year but over all only improved a little. Is Flossy one of our bright lights?

Should be playing more as an inside mid.

Simply doesn't have the tank yet, as a junior he was in the bottom 50% in most of the athletic testing, there's nothing to suggest he's made any major inroads where that's concerned. This is the risk you run when recruiting for athletic upside, I've rarely been a fan of such an approach whereas Frank has regularly rolled the dice on these types. Conca is another example of a guy whose body struggles with full time midfield duties, Lennon another although his future is likely to be as a medium forward. Even McBean was a gamble with his thin frame, he still looks a fair way off in terms of the physical mass required to be a KP player.

Huge fan of Nick but struggled yesterday I thought.

Would agree. Normally looks assured, looked unsure. But he's young so a pass.

Can he become the big bodied inside mid we need. He's 187cm, 86kg. Needs to find a tank.

He's not going to get a tank stuck in the back pocket. We tried the silly experiment of Morris forward through a pre-season and even into the season propoer. Why not give Flossy a run on the ball for extended periods at least through the pre-season.

I remember him kicking a couple of good goals on the run a couple of years ago in Perth where he seemed quick and lively.

He's a backman. A flanker. That's alright, he's a good one. But he's too small to play ruck-rover in the modern game. We could try him as a rotation centreman. Five minutes a quarter when Dusty and Lids aren't in there.

Hopefully he has a big off-season. You hear many stories about the best players doing that bit extra, Flossy strikes me as one who will do what is required.

Flossy and KMac definitely have the size, it's then a matter of having the tank plus the talent to work inside the heavy midfield traffic, feeding the ball to our outsiders advantage. Not sure if either of them's talented enough but it wouldn't hurt to work on them during pre season, the practice matches and perhaps a couple of games where we have a perceived advantage over our opponents.
