We know Nicks hard at it, has exceptional skills, very strong over head and thrives on the 1%'s but i wasn't so sure on his breakaway speed from a contest, i think he has ok pace without being overly quick...

His lack of explosive pace is the only knock on him I have heard. But that isn't a critical thing.

Will be interesting to see how he goes.

I want to see his short kicking. Does like to go long. At AFL level he will need to lower his eyes more.

Not sure he will play more than 12 games this year.

If so it'll be due to our greater depth and guys like Ellis and Morris and Jackson having it over him in the tank department. I think his footy brain dwarfs Jackson's.

If he's Jackson's immediate replacement then bring him in for round 1.

I agree but I don't see Dimma doing that.

Jacksons diminished role across half forward may come under threat if Chris Knights can stay fit. Ideally I'd like to see Arnot blooded in the Jackson role. Will provide the same physical presence but hopefully will increase the smarts.

And Vlastuin has played most of his footy across half back, I see him starting his AFL life there. I wouldn't mind Vlas & Arnot starting as the sub and swapping with Jackson a few times early on.

Buscuits or big V should be in, there's no reason why Jackson would be selected if the form of the other 2 is better in the presesaon..
Otherwise hardwicks future will be shorter then expected playing Jackson in the midfield and Carey Mcguane in the forward line.
New year, new start for everyone..

What about the forgotten man Helbig? I really have no idea what to expect from him this season but there was some talk early last year than he was being ear marked for Jacko's role before injury struck. I watch with interest.

The games Helbig did play at the end of the season were good. It will be interesting to see how he goes with another pre season behind him. If he trains hard he should be able to push himself into the team at some stage of the year.

I have never really understood what people see in Helbig.

TBH, I only get to watch the Tigers on TV, a poor way to really assess footy talent IMO.

The perfect fit for that half forward role from nexts years crop is a kid by the name of Jack Billings.

The boy is a rolls royce.

Good player, just always seems to be carrying an injury or he his coming back from one. Tough as nails, very good kick and more reliable with hands.
He could be our mini version of D.Beams if he stays fit..

It would have to be a disaster of a season for either him or us in order for him to end up a Tiger. Reckon he'll go top 5

Yeah, doubt we'll have much of a shot at Billings. Quick and skilled will be the requirement though.

His kicking is extremely hit and miss. Either exceptional or garbage. Lucky dip. Has hard hands, too. Needs to fumble less often.

I agree with you Zips, I reckon he will turn out okay.

I have noticed the hard hands as well.

If he is to become an inside mid he needs to improve his first touch dramatically.
