new equalization plan.

WOW we are getting more than PA. Should stop sledging them for being cheap and poor :hihi

collingwood and west coast get an an extra mill on top of the 3.25? they are the richest clubs! they don't need equaliation

I cant believe people are saying that we are not a big club., farcical comment to make. We are indeed a big club. If any other club had the misfortune to be like us (on field) over the last 30 years they would have folded years ago. I would like to see clubs like Hawthorn and Geelong having no success (i.e. not even PLAYING finals) over even 10 years and we would see where those clubs would be. What we need is a period of sustained success (something I believe the Tigers are building towards) and we wont only be a 'big' club we will be a 'super club'. As for 'research' about who supports what teams, well that's a joke. I, and everyone I know, have never been asked who they support for any 'survey'. Average crowd for 2011 of over 40,000 per game for a club that finished 12th isn't too bad. In the 2 years we have made the finals (1995, 2001) we have had cumulative crowds of over 1,000,000 in those 2 seasons, something we will have again when we make finals.

Agreed! However Collingwood is carrying a substantial debt form what I believe. Double the debt of the Tigers.

I think the Port adelaide money excludes what has already been announced to support them plus the money that the AFL is putting into the Adelaide oval deal which will help them as well .

Wonder if we'll wipe another mill off the debt ASAP
The PDF is very difficult to decipher but it says that AFL money that is allocated to clubs for debt reduction will be paid directly to the bank not to the clubs . No idea what the amount is that we would get under that scheme .

i would imagine collingwood would be able to repay their debt with alot more ease than us atm due to their current success

just looked up their annual report and in 2009 their debt was around 11mill (7mill current and 4 mill non-current) and they payed a little over 8mill of it in 2010 plus over 700k of interest. so by the end of this year they will have payed it all off.

Which is about $4.7m more than the big clubs

The good thing about this is unlike the eternally small clubs like the Bulldogs and Kangas, Richmond actually have the potential to be a big club again.

This money will not only help us compete, but it will help us to be a league power on and off-field once again.

Collingwood wiped out 8 million of debt last year and still made over 5 million in profit. how that justifies them any extra cash really is beyond belief. :don't know

Bowdo I am not 100% sure but i think that every team that is required to move an MCG home game to etihad gets some compensation .

the thing i dont understand is that those battling clubs like NMFC and Western Bulldogs will never be big pulling
clubs with big membership bases...where we are more likely if we get our act together to be up there with the Colonwoods and the Bloozes and Bumbers...we all know that...

they should give us their share and shut them down...

What i found amusing was the recommendation for us to improve sales resources to fill spare stadium capacity yet we were 4th for average home attendences this year!

I for one would never support this. Yep, as conservative as they come.

They can let a non-Victorian team fold, no problems there. But I hated what happened to Fitzroy, and will not accept it again. The competition has been built on tradition. It will take 50 years or more of the current interstate sides being in the comp before I reckon I'd reconsider my position.

And I am a Western Australian.

So 2 million a year for next 4 years,,should help us out no end,,,,,,,,,

I wonder if gale was expecting this much

The moaning has started with the Hawks , Magpies and Cats bleating already . I would have thought that the Cats especially should keep their mouths shut as they get a massive freebie every year with a guaranteed 7 games at Skilled stadium at the expense of Footy supporters who can't get to see their team play .

The Hawks are an interesting one . Their financial success has a lot to do with the Tassie deal which you could argue is not much different to us selling games to Darwin and cairns . How rich will the Hawks be without that deal ?

The extra funding for Collingwood is evidently related to upgrades to the Westpac centre btw .

Let them cry, cats hawks, pies,,,,,,,,,,,,,they are just dirty cos they know a lot of the strugglers can now pay more salary cap,and they will most likely lose a player or two,to clubs that couldn't afford to ,before this.
