New clash jumper - reversed strip

maverick said:
Its sacrilegious I know, but after the past week of being 100% immersed in the grand final and all the imagery - seeing the team in our traditional jumpers looked odd. (I may of watched the QF and PF's again :hihi) I reckon the reverse strip has become a Tiger icon in its own right. I'd buy one now, whereas I never would of considered before.
agree! I was not happy we had to play in it. But it's now our current Premiership jumper And certainly grown on me now!

Do we make it our "Away" jumper from now on?...It is starting to grow on me.

I think we should. Wear it every away game. It’s our Premiership jumper. It needs to be worn with pride regularly.

Every away game and every time we play the Cry Baby Crows!

I Could even be in favour for wearing it in next years GF! Im a tad superstitious!

The current bid for Martin's jumper is $7300. Nice earner for the club.

Now over 19K!
Assume Dusty gets a cut?

Gotta say, after listening to Shed's recollections 'Yellow Richmond jumpers everywhere', along with seeing the ground level footage while he was talking and seeing the massive contrast, I hate to say it, but I reckon the AFL got it right on going with the clash strip

I always felt that there was no clash between the traditional Richmond jumper and the Crows jumper, but always thought the bright yellow would stick out like dog's b@lls and help players identify their teammates in traffic.

Watching the replay it's great when you see see 4 or 5 bright yellow jumpers swarming all over a lone Crow.

I now love the "clash" strip.

And here"s a wild theory. Umpires can see opposition hanging onto our jumper easier. Look at the soft frees to Rance and Townsend. I'm a convert. Yellow and Black

May seem soft frees, but the one on Towner was a massive jumper tug by Lever, made sure that Towner couldn't contest the incoming ball. Near wet myself laughing at Lever arguing with the maggot n then double checking the replay to see who it was that tugged the jumper.

I love both our guernseys and always liked our most recent away strip. You can really see us coming!

However, there was a small article I saw recently. Would you believe that research has shown that umpires worldwide have a more positive response to lighter colours. It seems like a cliche but, yes, apparently darker colours do show a negative bias in the penalties data, awarded across most codes. Some kind of association with more devious actions or something, psychologically. Strange but true supposedly. [It might have already been reported on PRE, can't remember where I saw this]

It seems to be borne out by the GF at least.

Yep, im sure the golden arches are yellow for a reason

I suspect some of the Crows' finest are still seeing it. Haunting their nightmares.

RFC selling both tops now with premiership details on them.

Sounds like they heard the masses wanting the real GF jersey. I wonder if the missus will notice if I buy 4. 2 clash, to normal, so they can be mounted side by side, front and back,.

Not wild at all, I thought the same thing, although it worked in reverse for the Crows when Grimes grabbed Betts' arm and he didn't get a free for it.

As long as we don't go down the route of most other clubs in fundamentally changing the clash strip every year or every other year. I dislike Collingwood as much as the next person, but admire that they developed a clash strip that, although is quite discernible from their primary strip, still looks very Collingwood (in truth, the primarily white strip looks closer to what they wore for the majority of their history, than their predominately black strip). And have stuck to it now with minimal change, creating a tradition. Don't think any other club has done that.

St.Kilda have had some reasonable clash strips too, particularly when they essentially just change the black back to white, wear white shorts and add some extra white to their socks. Still looks very St.Kilda like. Or alternatively wear their heritage 'barber shop' strip with white shorts. But where they lose points in my view is changing it from year to year and indeed, come up with some shockers like this year's, when trying to reinvent the wheel.
