New clash jumper - reversed strip

Ian4 said:
their problem is that gold and brown don't go well together.
But then, who really clashes with Hawthorn's horrible yellow and brown anyway? No common sense reason for them even needing an alternative strip in the first place. The pain and suffering to everyone's eyes of viewing Hawthorn's terrible attempts at alternative strips over the years should have been avoided all together.

That we wore them in the first place is a sad indictment on the RFC. Eddie said that if he was in Penny's shoes he would have paid the $50,000 fine and worn the traditional jumper in the GF. Now that's leadership

sorry thats BS, would have taken the focus off the game, thats Eddie though

Much prefer Peggy's stance

x2. Peggy is fantastic!

I was against the call, even though I've always liked the clash strip, but thought the clubs line was spot on and thought KB was grandstanding.

But with hindsight, I think it was the right call. Massive contrast between the sides, and we looked great.

All these calls by media and eddie etc saying it looks terrible are just wrong IMO.

but who cares? :cupgold

Until he found out the fine is $40,000 per player, so $880,000.

Fact is, the clash jumper makes it much easier to discern the teams from a distance. It is absolutely here to stay, it looks good, we won the flag in it, and any whinging is both redundant and petty. Get over it.

It's our Premiership jersey. To not love it is unRichmond

There are no adjectives to describe how I feel about our original jumper. But "love" will do for the new one.

Yep, easy to love both. But our home strip will always be #1 for sentimental value.

Now, if we find that the Yellow jumper gives us more free kicks and a better run from the umpires, we might need to reconsider the main match day jumper.

Good old Eddie - he would be so upset if the skunks had to wear their 'clash' jumper - a jumper that they actually wore for about 100 years before they reversed it and became black with white stripes about 10 years ago - (which actually caused more clashes than any of the newer teams jumpers have) that he would pay the fine to wear their 'traditional' jumper - what a joke - any opportunity to get publicity for his club I guess......

So we now have two different premiership jumpers n both of them are yellow n black. Exactly what is the issue?

One is yellow 'n black, the other is black 'n yellow.

Not sure which one is which though

One is a Richmond jumper the other is a marketing tool for the AFL to sell more merchandise. Also, the pretend jumpers are changed every two to three years to maximise revenue.

Pretty sure that if you looked carefully, you would find that Richmond has changed it's jumper a few times over it's history and long before anyone ever thought to try n invent it as an AFL marketing tool. Distinctly recall seeing a heritage jumper that would clash rather nicely with the traditional Hawforn poos n wees jumper.

Couldn't give a rats clacker what jumper we won our flag in, after 37 years they could've played nude as long as they won. Have absolutely no grievance with the reverse strip as a jumper for our magoos, or as a " clash " strip marketing tool. It's yellow n black, or black n yellow whichever you prefer to call it n the Richmond Football Club won a flag in it, that's all that matters.

I'm still not sure if that was an actual heritage jumper or one that we made up and pretended that we wore once upon a time ago before we joined the VFL. I think we lost that game, too, so we can at least pretend that it wasn't us, but Hawthorn.

Sold Out Apparantly.

After winning the flag in that guernsey the club has increased it merc sales revenue as the winning guernsey has been snapped up whereas the official or traditional guernsey may not have been sold in such numbers as most already have one.

For 104 unbroken, unmodified years we've had black with a yellow sash, that's a pretty strong tradition.

Agree with Brodders, still don't like it, wished they'd worn the real one.
