Nathan (Axel) Foley [MERGED]

Any updates on Foley's injury rehab. etc, was he at Cairns training?

I believe he went to Cairns. Grimes was the only player not to go. Unsure how he has performed but I say he would be on a restricted program.

We should probably make the 8 or get close to it anyways, but a fit Foley and Grimes would make our finals aspirations in 2013 a reality IMO.

Spewing these boys have had a rough trot with their respective injuries.

Great to see Axel on Roar Vision running a couple of laps at Punt Road Oval, he's crucial to us taking the next step.

If Foley is still crucial to us taking the next step then we're not as ready for a sustained run of finals appearances as I thought we were.

Foley's return to form should be considered a bonus to the squad, not a necessity.

When he originally injured himself the club was sprouting he will be good to go round 1. Had me questioning it at the time and the way things are looking (only can jog slowly at the moment) that's look mega sketchy.

I do agree he's crucial to the squad because with him in them midfield it means less time for poorer options like Daniel Jackson. When he got injured it meant more midfield time for the likes of Jackson. That's not a good thing.

Would have to agree. Our reliance on him should be only seen as a back up.
Good to see him up going. Poor bastard.
I would use him as a 2nd half super sub. He had influence in a lot of the games this year but it tailed off as the game went on.

OK then, he is crucial to our midfield. We missed him big time when he got injured, and i'm sure with him we would have won a couple of those close losses.

Correct. Fingers and toes crossed for the great man.

He was the missing link in the Adelaide game. He and Jake King (getting injured early) really cost us in the second half. An interesting strategy about using him as a super sub, I think he's a bit good for that role though and just needs to apply himself when it's his turn. When he can do that consistently then look out.

I love his one percenter's, like when Stevie Morris got his first goal for the Tigers.

RFC have reported Axel has started running on grass again so whilst it is early days it is good to see his recovery is going forward. Can't see him playing AFL until late in the season at best but just hope he gets back to his high playing standards soon.

If that's the case then his fitness would be so far behind.
Maybe the best we can get out of Foley is as a sub. He can play the last quarter of each game

Better foley then Maric. He has to be eased back into it because this could turn into the longest 3 years in someone's career.
Bring him back in after the mid season break, no rush

Dangerous IMO to plan using your sub like that. If someone goes down early in the game Foley will be forced to come on and risk re-injuring himself.

I wouldn't play him at all unless he's 100% fit, and if he's 100% fit, he shouldn't be a sub.

You may well mock, but we haven't been able to replace him yet, and it's not for the lack of trying!

I was actually being serious.

Just watched the clip on the RFC page... he is a loooooooooooooooong way off.

Only good news, early days, is he has no pain from his very light running so far... finger crossed he can make a late 2013 contribution
