Nankervis !!

I thought Stanley played a great game. In the game's 2nd half though he didn't seem to be rucking much, played swingman in backline and forward which would explain the metres gained. Grundy certainly wasn't playing his best and some of his early disposals were short kicks off the ground.

Anyway a bit off track I'm pretty sure my original point wa that Nanks will have a much tougher assignment next week against Grundy than the inexperienced Phillips and therefore needs our midfield in top flight to negate any potential Grundy dominance in ruck contents (prelim final 56 hit-outs to 24). Would you disagree?

Agree it will be tougher but my impression is that Grundy wasn’t at his best

Our ruck was mediocre. Our strike mids were asleep. Whatever Grundy was supposed to have done could easily have been overturned by a serious Dustin Matin, when next we get one of them.

On a serious note. And his has been true since we got him. When the ball is in the air and it is time to defend Toby Nankervis is worse than useless.

In the preseason of 2019 both Cookie Monster McIntosh and Fatty Martin have levelled up in spoiling.

They've been offered coaching. They've accepted coaching. They've improved by hundreds of percent.

Why hasn't Toby Nankervis improved his defensive aerial presence? From disgraceful? Is he important?

Other than his failures in that realm he was ok IMO.
 
To all those looking at blaming Dion, or Lambert or our injuries or the umps, big Toby is somewhat immune to the attention.
Now I am a Toby fan, but this man is out of form.

Based on one game against a top 2 ruckman in the competition?

17 touches and 3 goals as a lead ruck in round 1. Will be back him to beat Mumford.

Exactly. And he wasn’t a Lone Ranger in being ordinary last week.

Well, like I said, I like him. I like his attitude. He kicks goals. He is also our only ruck, he needs to be a ruck first not a goal kicker first. Mumford might just give him a run for his money but he needs to stand taller and stronger and out Mumford Mumford.
 
Won't mind if Nank can rest forward n kick a goal or two while Balta elevates n dances on Mummy's head a bit.
 
where is HR? Nank fixed up probably maybe the best 1-2 ruck combo in league. where is ur praise.
