Nankervis !!

Watching Toby closely and one of the things he does really well is after he contests the ruck, he then quickly spreads away to provide a handball option for the midfielder.
This is a key difference to what some of other other more recent lumbering rucks haven't been able to do, who haven't remained an option after contesting the ruck. It makes a very big difference for us at clearances to have that extra body to go to.

Interesting.

Early in the season I noted that he ran through the circle after the ruck contest, primarily looking to tackle.
Had the benefit of making a hole for our mids and blocking the opposition mids from running through the circle as well.

I thought that was even more effective

Very Niknat-like.
West Coast without Niknat shows how important this style of ruckman is in the current game.

He's a ruckman with a brain. There ain't too many of those.

Speaking of which have a look at this comparison at the same age and think back at how the then number 1 draft pick was lauded then.

Toby's averaging 26 HO, 15 possessions & almost 4 tackles pg. Incredible numbers. :D

Proper old fashioned ruck man is Nank, he can actually play footy.
Best thing about him is his smarts.
Thought while watching the game live that the maggot was seriously *smile* up the bounce late in the game, giving Nank no chance to compete. Maggot wasn't recalling any of the bounces n I was fairly pissed off at the time.
On watching the replay, the bounce was favouring Goldy a few times, but not bad enough for a recall. So Nank simply sagged off a ruck contest he wasn't going to make and positioned up as a big bodied mid for us, just generally getting in the way of Norf mids n supporting our blokes.

Probally a bit early to crow, however I'd say his a better recruit considering age and price then Ivan was and fast becoming as big a cult hero. Got to love the competive beast ruckman

Definitely very pleasing numbers for Nank but you should note that NicNat spent nearly 12% less time on the ground on average. Which is also pointing out how we are so dependent on Toby - no back-up.

Huge pick up for us. He surely needs a bit of back up in the second half of the season though......Maybe they should look at scheduling some games for Soldo, Maric or Elton (if fit) regardless of whether they're deserved, just to give his body a chance to make it through. Until a spot in the 8 is secured though, its hard to see us compromising our chances to win games, even against lower ranked teams.....But may not be much point making the finals if Nankervis is cooked either.

NicNat's numbers are from around 50% time in the ruck when he shared duties with glass jaw Cox.
That said reckon big T is going very well.
