Nankervis !!

Good form line, love to see it as he is so important to us (with the list as it stands)

Need to bolster the ruck stocks in the off season.

Nank shouldn’t be #1 in 2024, absolutely no doubt.
Good to see you double down Carts. I might disagree with what you say, but there's one thing...You definitely don't backflip once you're committed to a position.

Nank has been better than adequate last couple General. He’s been brutal.

I think the game as it’s played now (thanks SHocking) doesn’t reward combat ruckmen as much as it should.

As such I think Nank is *slightly* out of time. However, looked cooked before his lay off, now seems refreshed.

We’re making a charge and I’m excited by the turnaround. Samson needs protection so it’s more than welcome on that front also.

Posters have saying Nank shouldnt be our No1 ruck- too short, too slow, cant jump- since we recruited him.

I cant see Nank being a No2 ruck in an AFL side, so he is either our no1, or he plays in the VFL, which isnt happening anytime soon.

Inability to provide a dangerous target up forward precludes him from #2 status, so agree.

Developing a softer side The Nankenstein.

Almost fell off my MCG seat when he was helping Marshall get up.
Must have had a clear mind at the time.
Not thinking about Woaming Bwian! (would have dropped a knee into him).

What a wonderful citizen is The Nank. :clap2

He got coaches votes in the 1st 3 games, then got injured before half time in game 4.

Yep. The idea he was cooked was totally absurd. His ground ball pressure, tackling and bullocking after restarts is highly underrated and a big factor in our current midfield strength.

His form this year is no surprise to anyone who's been paying attention.

Hell go round again next year and he'll still be our number one - Ryan won't be ready for the #1 role and Soldo doesn't get in a team with Ryan/Nankervis both fit.

Once the siren went, and hostilities were officially over, yeah sure Nank disentangled himself, and then helped Marshall up.
That was straight after Nank happened to accidentally fall on him and land a knee right in Marshall's orchestral stalls.
Classic Nank.

Nank "Sorry mate, I'm a bit of a clumsy oaf"
Marshall "How come you always fall into the most painful spots"
Nank "Erm..........."

Don't worry about Nank showing some sportsmanship. How about our players picking up the ball for the flogs everytime it goes OOB or a ball up???.....and they still punish us!!

666-stand has neutered a lot of Nank's strengths. the game is headed towards heavily umpire-curated uncontested possession chains.

if the club is fair dinkum about embracing this meta, Nank isn't #1 ruck in 2024. isn't a #2 ruck either.

i think he'll retire and we'll recruit a taller tap ruck to protect Ryan for a year or two. just MHO

Have to disagree. No way Nanks is retiring at 29yo. A high number of ruckmen are over 30yo. I disagree about Nanks not being #1 ruck (let alone #2). He is an extremely underrated player by some. His strength is his ability as a midfielder, he is basically another midfielder. Look at his contested possession, tackling stats. Very few ruckmen in the same league. He scares the daylights out of the opposition with his crunching tackles. Sure he gives away 1 too many free kicks (although good last 3 rounds, only 1 a game) but the benefits of the pressure he applies far outweighs this. I think we've looked a lot better the last few games with Nanks in the team. He lifts others. Samson is progressing but he's not ready to take on the #1 ruck mantle. Won't happen for at least a couple of years. Not many ruckmen get the #1 ruck gig before 25yo. If it's a choice between Soldo and Nanks to support Samson I'm going Nanks every time.

Marshall in heap on the turf making sure his nuts were all present and accounted for

He definitely ran through someone. It was the other end of the ground to me (at the City end) so couldn't see if he hit him high or not.
It reminded me a bit when a Cat (Miers?) ran into Soldo during 2019 /20 when Ivan just stood there not moving and the Cat just bounced off him and landed on his a**e yet got a free

Amazing that otherwise astute PRE analysts of the game haven't noticed this.

Nank was poor against Essendon but has been enormous since. Think he'll be our no.1 ruck until his body falls apart.

With the kms on the clock I think Nank will fall away quickly post 30.

With such a dynamic midfield in prospect for 2024 - Hopper, Taranto, Prestia inside, Bolton and Martin outside - I just think we need stronger aerial representation at ball ups.

Our game is still reliant on territory wins in F50 - often we are forced to do this with a -1 as the +1 is off the ball. Jack Riewoldt uses his guile to trap the ball and move it forward until the smalls arrive but he may not be around to play this role next year.

With such a dynamic midfield ready to roll in 2024 I can’t see Nank serving them as well as a genuine tap ruckman could.

As things stand Nank brings a multitude of good contested traits but folks aren’t seeing how other teams don’t need this as much from their ruck because they are getting hitouts to advantage.

Critical with the new rules.

Combine this with Nank’s inability to hit the scoreboard himself and we are left with an honest setup that fails to generate enough ‘easy’ goals in my opinion.

Imagine a tap ruck feeding Bolton and Martin on the burst with 666. Ryan will get there in time, but if we want 2024 to be a genuine finals tilt for the likes of twilight Dusty and co, we need more actual ruck advantage.
