Morabito question

Dont agree with this at all. The reason he slipped is that for a change there was a great depth of key position players in the draft of 2008. The cards swung the way that he managed to drop to 7th, not any perceived veiw that he wasnt going to improve. I was hoping like hell he would drop to 8th. Brisbane are probably still pinching themselves to see if it was a dream.

He did go after mid/flankers Hill, Hartlett and Yarran

Agree, it was because of the Manchild tag. Clubs trying to outsmart others.

Bloody Melbourne have royally screwed us with this priority pick business... Either of Scully or Trengove would have been perfect. The fact they will get both has me spewing

Even if they beat us they still would have made sure they qualified for the PP to ensure they got both.

The club that look pretty silly at the moment is Carlton, they are in a contention for window for the next couple of years when Judd is in his prime. They really could have done with Rich this year and next

Yarran demonstrates once again the perils of using a high pick on a small forward in the hope that they can become a midfielder (Cyril being a spectacular exception to the rule but there were good reasons in his case). Blind freddy could see when Yarran was going round for Swan Districts that he didnt have the motor or the work ethic for the midfield.

And even then Rioli can only spend limited amounts of time in the midfield at the moment.

Edit: Thanks Col.

Heard a whisper that Morabito could be gone before our pick.

It makes sense given Melbourne have a lot of inside midfielders already. McLean, Jones, Moloney, Sylvia, Grimes and will add Scully to this group. They may well be looking for something a little different at No.2.

Have heard similar Mr Magic. Talk I have heard is that West Coast are likely to try to trade up for him. Originally I heard they were interested in trying to get pick 3 from us, but seems Pick 2 is more likely target with Melbourne possibly looking to go a different route than two midfielders. Would not have thought we'd be overly tempted to trade down unless it was for a monster deal.

Be interesting to see how many knockers have seen Morabito play bar the one televised game this year to come up with comments like him being outside & introverted.

lots of hearsay floatin on here ILO.

He has things to improve upon for sure but make no mistake he could end up numero uno from this draft. Easily.

At worst a guy that will end up his size, strength, speed & ability will still be a very dangerous footballer.

Agree here Leysy. The clips available show all of about 10 minutes total time of Morabito, and I don't think are overly representative of the kids ability.

Think he may well be in the number 4 next year

Would make this little black duck happy. Hearing good things on Morabito. We need a power mid who can hurt teams on the spread.

I mentioned this on another thread as well. Kevin Sheehan was on 3AW tonight and said that Morabito will be similar to Adam Goodes and has tested as having the biggest hand span out of all the draftees. He will be a massive unit once he grows fully into his body. Not that he isnt a good size now 90kg 190cm.

Scoop they were Brett Robinson stats, which were very impressive except we seem to get injured late in the season

Not as good but still had some decent games playing as a 17 year old amongst men on a bad team.

Not as good but he still had two 30 possession games playing as a 17 year old amongst men on a bad team.

I may be reading it wrong but I don't see any 30 possession games in there.

Is impressive nonetheless.

I still prefer Trengove and Martin.
