The AFL has decided on some rule and draw changes for the 2020 season.AFL chief Gil has said these changes are necessary and for the good of the game.We are introducing penalty points. The RFC will play no home games at the MCG next year but will play their games at Docklands. The season opener will be against the Bulldogs followed by North Melbourne. Then Brisbane in Brisbane, eagles in Perth,Port in Adelaide, freo in Perth,Adelaide in Adelaide, then Geelong in Geelong. The grand final rematch will be in sydney the following week.Richmonds first home game for the season will follow after that being against the Pies at Docklands.Given that RFC debuted a player in this years grand final and he played well there will be no access to the next draft and Alex Rance will be deemed a required player at another club. Finally given that RFC also won the reserves competition all players will be limited to a maximum of five senior games next year.
As mentioned earlier we deem this for the good of the game and it is without prejudice.

I posted similar thoughts but not as detailed elsewhere on the site

Our home ground will be Oodnadatta.
Donkey Blight will introduce the 3 3 3 rule for Richmond players for 3 quarters, with others allowed on field for the last quarter, but they can only kick on their non preferred foot.
Dimma has to wear a blindfold and wear ear muffs when coaching.
The goals will reduce to half their width whichever end the Tigers are kicking to.

Apparently we have to give Lynch back. Give pick 18 up for Stack and Pickett and give our second round pick to GWS along with Eliis.

And away we go!!!!!!

Sun get:
Its three years of draft assistance includes:

  • Pick No.1 at the 2019 NAB AFL Draft.
  • The first pick of the second round (currently pick No.20) at the 2019 NAB AFL Draft.
  • Mid first-round pick (currently pick No.11) at the 2020 NAB AFL Draft.
  • The first pick of the second round (currently Pick.19) at the 2021 NAB AFL Draft.

This screws us with our draft picks and any players we wanted from Darwin.

They get 1 and 2 TH:(. ..... and also 1st in round 2

Also:
It will also get Darwin as part of its expanded Academy access zone, while it will be able to pre-list players out of that region without the AFL's normal bidding processes.

The final part of its assistance package will be the ability to rookie up to 10 players.

So, as expected (!!), GC will be gifted the Rowell/Anderson package then try to lock these poor Victorian boys into 4 year contracts - so little choice for these young guys.
Every other club again suffers for the sheer incompetence of the AFL and their delusional investment in GC - in an area where the local community are virtually indifferent to AFL overall. If no decent player ever wants to stay there, what are you achieving?

So why are the Suns getting this? because they were *smile* again?

The local community is indifferent to all sports - its not a sporting location. never has been, never will be.

It's just over the top, so excessive. Another enormous reward for INCOMPETENCE. The rest of the AFL will be seething, more wasted investment.

So glad we have got our two flags before this garbage has come in. RFC will still succeed in spite of it. We have a fantastic, very smart club ... and the Tiger Army.

The picks I'm not so concerned with. I get that they have to do that.

The concessions around Darwin are outrageous, particularly the fact that they can pre-list players from that region without the normal bidding process.

Gold Coast sent out clearly the youngest team in the competition and ran it into the ground by peaking in the first month. These concessions are unwarranted and excessive. Hurts the other bottom clubs the most, but the entire competition foots the bill once again.

An Eagles-style drug culture sprang up under their noses, and last year they delisted - delisted - a player who was top 25 in this year's Brownlow. Pure self-immolation.

Seems the other basket cases of the past decade have all benefited from AFL intervention. Be proud, Tiger fans.

This. It's an outrageous package in total.

In all honesty - those kids trying to make it in the AFL from Darwin have to do it bloody tough. Making the entirety of Darwin a GC region just makes it bloody tougher. It will likley limit most teams recruiting hits in Darwin and essentially now all kids in Darwin will be forced into the GC feeder system, which as of yet has provided them ZERO long term players.

Forcing the kids from Darwin to go to GC is wrong. GC is a death trap for their careers & quite honestly at risk, as well as to their young lives. The drug culture in that area is outrageous. Forcing young aboriginal kids into a culture what is heavy in drug use - for a team that has zero history of succesffully developing kids, period (especially aborginal, which is a harder task) - its a nightmare.

Of all the calls they made to keep helping the Suns - the m Darwin one is the worst.

When are they doing to realise that young players in the GC will not work. They need to get older players - they will be more interested in the other opportunities the GC offers. Brandon Ellis is a great fit for them
