True Barnzy.

Also the fact that it will be Cornes last game.

Cornes had a barry crocker against Brisbane looked slow and disinterested as did the rest of the team.
But no doubt they will be fired up this week for his last game and then all the media bashings they have got this week.
Port went through a similar slump mid way through last year from memory and lost 5 in a row or something like that hopefully it continues this weekend.

We owe them Big Time Just get the wind right not like last time Cotchin wins the toss and kicks into a strong wind I was there still having nightmares over it .

Believe they ramped up their mega fitness program again last summer. They hit a fair flat spot late last season leading up to the finals, who knows, perhaps they've pushed the envelope a little too hard this time n have flattened early. They did have a hard draw to start with which wouldn't have helped.
It's a difficult task balancing everything exactly right for a twenty two game season plus finals, get things a smidgin out of kilter n the whole season can tip over very quickly.

Was talking to some friends who are professional/ national athletics coaches....they have links to the fitness regimes of a number of AFL clubs.....I questioned them during the summer as to why Port were so damn fast, and fit ... Main,y as to get an idea as to why we got run over.... They all agreed that it was due to a massive campaign....one that can't be sustained without injury, and in the long run, will see massive burnout....... Maybe the flame had extinguished

It wouldn't surprise me. I expected that could happen.

I think a lot of people did. This is where we'll find out if Hinckley can really coach. Was amusing to see and hear some of the calls that they showed on 360 from disgruntled Port supporters to 5AA, one of them even suggested that they should have gotten Walsh to Port. How quickly they turn.

In the 2015 predictions thread a few people had Port either outside of the eight or on the bottom rungs

For memory I think I had Port, Geelong and Sydney on the slide.
Can I take Sydney back?
I also had Collingwood as an improver. d'Oh!!

Walsh doesn't necessarily look like a supercoach either. Adelaide's improvement has come from Walker being fully fit.

But only Richmond supporters "eat their own" and are "impatient" and are "feral"????

2 weeks ago this was a certain defeat - no chance game

Now I am not so sure - the tigers have closed the gap but I think Port are still favorites.

If Richmond do upset Port, I don't think that many people will be surprised.

Richmond will draw from their wins over Adelaide, WC and Port during the back half of the year rather than the finals loss and will believe their form has returned based on the Collingwood game.

Port have the angry factor (players coming out and demanding more from themselves) and the Cornes factor - that should mean they turn up to play.

I think the bookies have the margin a bit wide at the moment and I think it will be a bit closer than people think - but Port deserve to be favourites

I think Port will win, due to the "angry factor" and Cornes retirement as YotT said. They've been criticised heavily this week, they must respond.

Whereas our guys will possibly take the foot off thinking we've turned the corner and we're all good from here. I'm more concerned with our flakey concentration "show up to play" attitude, than our talent.

The Cornes thing could go either way, I reckon it is very weird to say, 'I,m over it, too old and slow.....but I'll play 2 more games'.

Port supporters are pretty notorious for it, even going back to the SANFL days. I've heard people say that they occupy a different rung of the evolutionary ladder to the rest of us, and a mate of mine who came from Adelaide once said that most Adelaidians count it as a successful weekend as long as Port lose, it doesn't matter to them if their own team also lost. They're the Collingwood of SA.
