More gambling
Crypto can obviously be more volatile than asx200 and some traditional investments but it's wrong to consider it gambling. A single instrument bitcoin market cap is USD21B. It is undeniable that crypto will become a staple within any respectable investment portfolio over time. The emergence of NFTs and web 3.0 will further fuel this. It would not be wise to go 100% crypto in your portfolio for the same reason you wouldn't go 100% stock options or derivatives. They're too volatile but they're not gambling.

Leaves the game on its knees.
I can't think of 1 thing he has done to make the game better.
*crowds have disappeared
*Losing a truck load of money keeping GWS & Gold Coast in the competition. One needs to fold
*The umpiring its disgraceful.
*The Tribunal
*The Fixture
*The constant Rule changes
*The Rules with Academy kids
The game will be much better without him.

Check in with the AFL board and the general footy media.

They are waxing lyrical

Wonder if S Hocking might throw his hat in the ring.

Eddie Mc Everywhere might have a crack too.

Brad Scott

No hope x 3.
As long as its not our Chief.

I used to think Benny was the man but now with the way he is setting up the Tigers to remain a power I think he'd best served at the RFC and also with Peggy going it will help to keep some stability at Punt Road.

The AFL CEO position wont be a great one to be in over the next season or 3.

Stay at Tigerland Benny until the BS clears.

Bet a few journos are a bit miffed they didn’t get the inside scoop on this.

I think a few good ones like Caro did. She intimated a while ago he wanted to leave but COVID held it up. This is formalising something that he’s wanted to do for a while imo.

If you buy and sell something that you have no price control over and hope to make a return, it’s gambling. Plenty of fortunes will be made and lost over crypto. Even by the most sophisticated investors. Anyone who thinks it’s a safe bet is delusional or doesn’t understand who controls the market. And if it’s not a safe bet, then surely it’s called gambling?

McLachlan did that himself from memory didn’t he ? And anyway, he still didn’t give Caro a heads up about todays announcement it would appear.

I did feel the same, Craig, but we are going to lose Benny eventually. Putting aside the AFL role for moment, I'd expect him to stay for a year after the new President gets started.

He's an intelligent man and would be in demand for any number of organisations. He'll have further career ambitions beyond the Tigers.

That said, he'd have to throw his hat in the ring. I think it's unlikely yhe boys club would allow someone like the chief to take over but if he was offered it he should grab it and give the place a good clean up.

I think he gave incomplete answers rather than outwardly saying “I want to give it away”, but happy to be corrected.

Crypto is a very broad term. If you're talking about a bitcoin that has no asset backing then you could argue but I still don't agree it's gambling but let's park that. You could look at NFTs that are tied to physical or digital items. There are also organisations building block chain solutions that will underpin commerce that have very solid assets. These last two examples are investments you could look at through our sponsor. By your definition they aren't gambling.

PS. "And if it’s not a safe bet, then surely it’s called gambling?" it's all risk reward based across any investment. That's why we diversify. 99% of investments you will have no direct control over. Your definition of gambling is extremely broad but that's your prerogative.

Yep. Mince Whateley also stating the relationship between Gale and the AFL is “murky.”

Won’t be surprised if he’s not even an applicant - either by the AFL’s choice or his own.

So there definitely is some cold war happening with these pricks.
