We all love our footy.

The movement by those chosen to look after our great game should hang there heads in shame.

The proposed rule changes are not necessary and will only further take our great indigenous game further from what it is,
The greatest game in the world.

I urge everyone to make noise and show your disgust at what is being considered.

I would get rid of the person that got blight involved.
He should just crawl back to QLD, like he did after stkilda gave him the ass.

Re: McLaughlin and Hocking must resign!

After today Gil needs to resign. He has embarrassed himself and is a disgrace to the game. Pathetic.

there are no rule changes only game adjustments. very different things, apparently.

Re: McLaughlin and Hocking must resign!

No accountability for anything, finances, culture, governance. Anything. In the past they've had a decent facade of professionalism, and there was probably a greater and clearer community service philosophy. Its rotten and incompetent from top to bottom.

Re: McLaughlin and Hocking must resign!

Fxxxk em. Hate the scumbags ruining our great game. Hands off you turds!

Agree.

The thing that annoys me is that they know that most fans don't want these changes, all the polls are a saying a resounding no.

Nearly all of the recent rule changes have made the game worse. Why should we have any confidence that they aren't going to stuff up again.

Re: McLaughlin and Hocking must resign!

IMO there needs to be some changes as from a spectacle point of view seeing 36 players on one side of the ground is a put off.Nothing short of rugby. What they are proposing has warts on it as it should be done in the off season to gauge potential not using out of contention teams as the guinea pigs for their agenda.

Re: McLaughlin and Hocking must resign!

I believe there should definitely be some rule changes... let’s start with removing all rule changes from the last 10 years.

Re: McLaughlin and Hocking must resign!

I reckon the game has changed for the worse in recent years with the close, congested, rolling maul style of game and all 36 players often in the one half.
If it's not gonna change naturally and it takes some tweaks of rules/interpretations to reverse the trend - then I'm in favour of looking at those options.
Some options mentioned to date are OTT e.g. zones - but others might be worth trying.
Not all changes introduced over the past 10-20-30 years have been disasters.

Re: McLaughlin and Hocking must resign!

I'm glad we finally won a flag coz if this game of ours is finally put to the sword, then I'm outta here.

Re: McLaughlin and Hocking must resign!

Deliberate out of bounds
5 metre *smile* ptotected zone
Ruck nominations thers 3 shocking rules
That should be given the arse
Do a survey gill on these see how many fans like them
Yeh exactly what the game needs more changes
And i thought we couldnt get a worse ceo than vlad f.md.

Re: McLaughlin and Hocking must resign!

I will consider stopping my rolling Tiger payments once the shonky AFL release info about the so called rule adjustments.

Re: McLaughlin and Hocking must resign!

All the unwatchable maul style games I’ve seen occur on the smaller grounds and it’s usually the same teams involved. MCG should be the standard size across all grounds.

Re: McLaughlin and Hocking must resign!

Questions I’d like answered regarding the implentaton of changes

1. To what extent have the AFL and club members been canvassed and surveyed for their feedback and opinion in a formal format where results can be clearly seen for each proposed change?
2. What are the results of these surveys? Which of the clearly defined proposed changes have been agreed to to be trialled in principal. Including in that is what format the trialling will be carried out in.
3. What are the clearly defined proposed changes that have been sent to members for opinion and feedback?

I wonder what’s in the AFL constitution regarding how stakeholder ‘voting’ is sought and received for significant changes to the game. I wonder if the AFL is in breach of its own constitutional values when they make this stuff up as they go and just force it upon us..

Re: McLaughlin and Hocking must resign!

This frenzy of changes can only mean one thing.

The senior AFL exec bonus are tied directly to the size of the media rights. The broadcasters have let the AFL know that the way things are going, they should expect the next rights deal to be significantly less.

Re: McLaughlin and Hocking must resign!

Thats the one Baloo.

They then bait the most visibile media personell with information in return for them pushing the barrow to get proposed changes "normalised" by the public.
