Correct , 2nd best post of the week right here ! Huge issue Re getting to ball drop
Strange that you’d judge a post raising concerns about a players ability to make it as the second best post of the week. It’s sad that it often appears you are cheering for players to fail.

I thought MJ provided plenty of pressure, got into the game in the middle stages more. Needs more games and increase confidence.

Not writing him off like others. Can do with extra conditioning to run out games better and become more involved. I think this is holding him back.
Posting this again as even more obvious now. Not fit. Get him a tank Richmond.

Coulthard looked good in the twos. Seems to have a tank was linking up on the wings. Dangerous patterns around goal. MRJ finally has some competition. My dad always used to say if you want to fatten up a pig you need at least two. Competition for food increases the appetite.

My uneducated view is MJ is too defensive focused… too much “I’ll run them down when they get the ball”, rather than “I’ll make that MF chase me when I have the ball, and good luck catching me!”
That’s my lazy take on limited observations

The two biggest issues for me is , even those his foot skills are poor , his simply never front and square to be having missed shots at goal , if he was atleast consistently kicking 1.2 or 3 pts there’d be potential to 8mprove , but the fact is he just dosent get the ball or seem to read the ball like good small forwards do I.e Betts and Milne

Seems like a good kid, not too mention has his dads legacy to uphold. Not sure why he wouldn’t give it his best and leave no stone unturned (apparently came back out of shape after Christmas).
Still young. Sounds like needs tough love and competition for his position. Give Coulthard a go. Pretty exciting if those two both make it as our mosquito fleet

Problem with MJ is that he came on quicker than expected. No one really expected him to break out last year. When he was originally drafted everyone thought it would be 3-4 years for him to come on as he wasnt really a highly rated pick.

Next year will be a big one for him as he has regressed markedly this year. The weekend game showed that we are screaming out for a couple of zippy forwards.

Not even close to being similar players.
MJ was struggling before the injury, struggled in the VFL last week in his first game back and was only in because there were no other options.
You make room. They are AFL players

I feel like mj needs to play more minutes in the centre square when he was injected in there his intensity and speed changed the game in the last quater could turn into a gun clearance player i feel.

I think the time for the purely pressure small forward has passed. Moju seems to me to be so obsessed with chasing and tackling that he has forgotten his role is as a forward, to kick and create scores!!
It’s one of the reasons I am thinking we need a new coaching mindset. The best small forwards these days are super dangerous around the goals.
We need to release junior from the shackles and just let him play, let’s see what he has got

Mj first needs to.get fitter, then wait to.develope a tank and finally should lead to.more ball.

Yes and it really has effected him, high.fat diet culturally isn't great for afl fitness

Unfortunately skill, kicking and decision making is below par also so not sure there is a high ceiling to be unlocked.

Does he have the natural instincts of a small forward?
All I see is hes being second to the ball and chasing
