Maurice Rioli Jnr

Reckon young Moju has still got fair bit of learning to do about playing professional senior footy. Watched the stream of the VFL game yesterday n for the first two n a half qtrs as in previous games I've seen him, he was purely reactive to the state of play whenever the ball came within his area. Was very hesitant to commit n create a contest or attack at the ball. It was all about wait n see what happened first n then try to chase n rectify. Last qtr n a half or so he seemed to find a click point n became much more interested in hunting n attacking the ball n contest first n seemed to suddenly realise that he was good enough n could actually get ahead of n on top of the play.
Perhaps he might get another look at a senior game or two later in the year but I'm thinkin he might be best served simply playing as much magoos footy as possible this year so that he can fully learn n understand his abilities within the game before pushing for seniors next year.

Agree, from what I saw on TV he looked like he was unsure when to go. When he went he was mostly good. With someone of his natural ability you'd think this would come with experience and good coaching.

From the highlights reel at Ikon Park, MRJ sure does tackle hard and looks like getting som awareness around the ground. Progressing nicely

I’ve always had doubts and still do however I’d definitely be playing him this week and have him Get some centre square action, nothing like a little spark and enthusiasm from a cub

Played some way more pro active footy against the Bloosers. Got some serious heat about the way he played this game. Keeps steppin up to making some game instead of reacting to the play of others n he'll get to dabble in some senior footy later in the season.

Rioli was pretty good in the ressies. Loved his intensity and intent on tackling. Showed a bit of awareness to bring others into the game.
Looks like he's trimmed down a bit also.
It's probably before his time but it might be worth giving him a game or two soon to sharpen his progress.

MRJ and Pickett in the middle at opening bounce. We want to beat the Dees, cause some hurt early on.

I would bring in Rioli and Stack. Make the Demons feel the heat.

we should roll the dice. Dees will destroy us unless we bring intense heat to the contest..

I'm late to the fan club. Looking forward to seeing MRJ mature.

Morris on MRJ R4 -

Maurice Rioli Jnr (21 disposals, seven tackles, four clearances)

"He's in sensational form at the moment. Once again, his tackle pressure was second to none and he's improving at his centre bounce work which is also great to see and exciting for Tigers supporters."

He’s a different player to the one drafted if he can replicate this.

Is he now being primed for a Shai role? Feels that way. Role change.

Interesting.

Bears little resemblance to the kid we first saw, scoop. Now 19yo. One more week like last and he has to play ones. Looks a pure mid to me. And that is the emerging consensus.

I've got my hopes set on Dreamtime. Fair chance young Maurice does too. (But he wants to play in it.)

Freak new gift? I've never seen it before. He teleports. Not there. Then there. Watch the replay on the AFL site. It's porno.
