Maurice Rioli Jnr

He won ground ball yesterday. And played mid. Looks promising in that role.

How's his cleanness at the moment? Probably my big concern from his couple of games last year was that he two-grabbed everything

His father played in the centre, wasn't the fastest player but didn't need to be as he knew what was about to happen . . . can we hope?

Need to remember that Maurice had about 6 seasons in the WAFL and was in his mid 20’s by the time he arrived at Tigerland. He had time to develop and hone those skills.

I only watched the game on and off but his closing speed in the tackle is unbelievably good. The only thing we have been waiting for is for him to get his possession count up. Looks a much better player than he did in 2021.
He needs to play like he did yesterday for a month or so in the VFL then he is a lock imo.

I didn't watch the VFL. When he started in the centre, did he roam forward or follow the ball?

With his tackling and pressure ability, putting him in the middle for centre bounces could be effective at solving our leaky clearance issue we had in the 4th qtr v Carlton. Then he runs forward and solves our lack of tackle pressure in our forward 50

I am looking forward to MOJU eventually claiming incumbency in the senior side cos that means the lad has played some serious footy.

Two Riolis in one team .........delicious

Certainly his most complete game so far, was a real positive from the match and hopefully he keeps trending upwards.
The move into the midfield might be the makings of him. He's got some moves on him, not quite Bolton like, but pretty damn good all the same.

Loved his game and it came out of the blue. Didn't think he could find the ball but he did.

If they can keep rotating him through the midfield through the year we may just have found a player.

Got to remember the Southport team is a seasoned hard body unit. He did well

Don't you need a tank to play AFL midfield? Has Moju secretly acquired one over the preseason?

Agree with the earlier comment about him needing to focus more on the ball rather than sweating the man in anticipation of some sweet tackle goodness. Heh heh that sounds kinda dirty.

Is he really ready for the bigtime yet? Or is he still learning as he is still very much a project. One problem he is always going to have though is living up to that illustrious surname

Even if he's not quite ready for AFL yet, it's certainly encouraging to hear about his improvement.

Hasn’t he been going about his biz quietly , curious why he was emerg , this performance answered that . Build on this form and he may soon find himself in the seniors feasting on Lynch’s crumbs

Can't be worse then George or Aarts.
