Maurice Rioli Jnr

I thought that only players who had played at least 150 games for Freo could be considered for father and son.
That's what I thought too. 150 games for the WAFL clubs to go F/S n 200 for the SANFL clubs to go F/S until of course such time as the expansion clubs original players had kids of their own coming through and eligible for F/S.

Maurice Snr played 118 games for Sth Fremantle, so he could have been taken as a father son by them too.
He was also in Essendon's NGA zone. He could have gone there too.
I'm surprised the rules weren't changed to give NGA precedence over Father/son. Especially since it would have screwed us over.

Played the best footy of his career earlier this season. Not sure it was worth a 2 year extension but it was worth a 2025 contract imo.

Does this perhaps give an indication that Daniel will be staying then? They are obviously very close.

1 year would have been enough. Not like someone else is going to rush for him. Had a better season overall but still only managed 6 effective disposals a game and contributed just 0.9 goals, 0.2 goal assists and 3.9 assists per game. Needs to improve that part of his game immensely. So now has 2 years to repay the faith.

I thought MJ looked fantastic at the start of the season before his ankle injury. One of our genuine improvers.
Hopefully with more maturity he's learned from coming back out of shape this preseason & can bring some real energy next season.
Looking forward to his next couple of seasons & hopefully many more beyond that.

So MJ will enter his 5th pre-season, time for him to turn up in tip top shape, none this taking half a season to get fit garbage.
Anyway congrats to him.

He was fit to start the season. Wasn't fit when he turned up to preseason.
Was one of our best players in the win against Sydney early in the year.
Imagine if he turns up to preseason in good shape..;)

He better, the club was very disappointed in how he rocked up to pre last year.

Yes his first 2 games this year he was pretty non-existent, just 7 effective disposals across both games. Then played well against Swans. Not sure what it is but he seems to take a while to get going. Even this time around his 2 games back from injury at VFL level he's been poor even though he was given some decent midfield time. Ross came back from a far more serious injury and dominated as you expect the good players of experience to do.

Make him start his preseason November 1.
Ban him from eating 20 big fat turtles each lunchtime if he heads back home for his break. Fish, fish, fish. No chips. Bush Tucker only , no honey ants or sugar snaps.
It’s time he decided to be a professional. It’s time the club treated him as one.
If he comes back fat and overweight pay for a personal trainer for him and take it out of his wages.

Very fortunate to get 2 years based on his output.

But I can see that he can level up again if he puts the work in, so if he does might prove to be astute.
