Miller's true love seemed to be Beau Dowler. Then Clarke and Ryder, but they weren't going to get to us. Then it was 6 mids (Shannon Hurn wasn't one of them as he couldn't see a position for him), and he started with JON and kept replaying video of JON's agility test, told the lawnmower story etc.I was at the post draft function at John Mathies house in South Yarra with Mr Burnside on the Saturday straight after the draft. The draft was held in the morning if I recall and John had his function with players, Miller, Frank etc in attendance in the afternoon.
Greg was good enough to sit down with me one on one with his lap top and show me about 5 mins of JON highlights (which weren’t that impressive to be honest.)
Greg said that this was Frank’s boy (or something to that effect), had been tracking him for a while, and then went through what Frank saw as his strengths and upsides. Greg mentioned he thought Cwood had killed it with Pendlebury and Thomas but that Frank thought JON was every chance to be as good (if only).
Greg was more keen on Mitch Clark but both he and Frank determined Clark had a few off field issues so Greg said he went with Frank on JON.
Frank whilst only being part time, was really working full time, and soon after that draft was made full time National Recruiting manager formally. In fact I think Greg made that announcement too on the day in John’s atrium to everyone, and highlighted Frank’s work with the draft.
2005 was Frank’s draft and JON was most definitely his pick more than it was Greg’s. 110%. From the horses mouths involved.
The netballer was on Miller's board as a potential second-rounder. And Daisy was one of the six mids being considered for our pick.Didn't someone from Richmond laugh at the Pendlebury pick and say he was a second-rounder or something like that? Who was that?
Send your sliding doors moment in to @AFLParrotIn hindsight, JON's drafting was a master stroke. We had to stay *smile* a bit longer to get Cotch and Dusty.
Bit of an old run down shack JM has , felt like giving him a donation to cover the cost of the snags.I was at the post draft function at John Mathies house in South Yarra with Mr Burnside on the Saturday straight after the draft. The real sliding doors moment was when @FatherOfAFLParrot's condom broke.Send your sliding doors moment in to @AFLParrot
It really is something the commentators should highlight.I never knew that Pendlebury played basketball as a junior
Or he could of been the worst 3 time premiership player ever.In hindsight, JON's drafting was a master stroke. We had to stay *smile* a bit longer to get Cotch and Dusty.
One of the best kept secrets in Australian sport.I never knew that Pendlebury played basketball as a junior
Correct on all fronts there Mr B. Good day though. I reckon you ate 7 snags minimum. He loves the Tiges ole John. Awesome house. Very generous man.Bit of an old run down shack JM has , felt like giving him a donation to cover the cost of the snags.
Pretty sure you said after seeing JON’S “ highlights” that poor ol CC is going to have to work overtime to sell hope with this bloke
Yes Frank had. He was covering WA and SA. Miller was doing the eastern seaboard and Tassie.Miller's true love seemed to be Beau Dowler. Then Clarke and Ryder, but they weren't going to get to us. Your account makes sense of the revelation that Miller had never actually seen JON play live. Had Frank?
Yeah looks like it needed some work.Correct on all fronts there Mr B. Good day though. I reckon you ate 7 snags minimum. He loves the Tiges ole John. Awesome house. Very generous man.
Yep. That’s it. Atrium house on the left.Yeah looks like it needed some work.
South Yarra family home purchased for resort
John Matthies sold an 8624 square metre Phillip Island amalgamation in January. The consortium rebuilding Sorrento’s Continental Hotel has acquired one of South Yarra’s grandest estates – it is understood, for a sister resort. Untilwww.realestatesource.com.au
Fair effort getting a invite.Yep. That’s it. Atrium house on the left.
For once, have to credit Mr Burnside. (At the time, he had Greg’s number on speed dial.) We actually went twice if I recall correctly. We got to know the butlers on a first name basis !! Hah hah hah…Fair effort getting a invite.
Anyone in mind Scoop? Could be a top 6 pick (or better)It’s mids, mids and more mids.
I've noticed you shouting for this on here well before our 2017 flag and dominance, but still nothing happening!! Why???It’s mids, mids and more mids.
