Daydreaming. Our small forwards did a fair bit of that tonight.

Yeah I reckon he's doing exactly what I hoped 2 games in. He was the only bloke in our forward line who even looked a chance.SCOOP said:Building nicely.
Power, mobile forwards are rare as hens teeth.
Huge building block.

He's a beautiful set shot. I can see him kickig a bag against a St Kilda or Gold Coast
Batchelor Party said:Interesting perspective Nikolasmia, but while Lynch may bring minimal defensive pressure, he will contribute heavily to scoreboard pressure-- he is a matchwinner. The modification to the hands in the back rule and the 6-6-6 setup are to his advantage if we can move the ball quickly and if he is not outnumbered at every contest like last night. Riewoldt playing in the ruck was a mistake made at selection, we need a 2nd option in there. And as we saw last night, pressure is only effective if the opposition allow you to use it. Rielwoldt and Lynch together in the forward 50 is a weapon we probably don't know how to exploit fully yet.

He has made us slower, and has structurally caused alot of problems in the team. At this stage I reckon getting him was a mistake
The opportunity cost of his contract is massive, we would be better giving his money and getting coniglio.
The fact that we have a 200cm power forward, that provides next to zero defensive pressure, and that cannot/will not ruck is a big problem. It means that we playing a rolls royce Jack Riewoldt as a ruck. This is completely unacceptable. Lynch should be protecting Jack from the ruck, not the other way around. It is a joke.
If Lynch cant ruck, he should not play.
The way our team has been set up, and the way we play, a gun midfielder would impact our team more, and make us better than we are with lynch.
Early days I know, but it does not look good at this stage IMHO.
That is so wrong in so many ways. It's like saying, don't get Lockett because we already have Dunstall. Who wouldn't want both. It is up to the coaching team to figure out a way to incorporate both of them to the benefit of the team. So i suppose West Coast should not play Darling and Kennedy together? Players like Lynch become available once every 10-20 years. You are selling him short. He has not played footy for almost 8 months so will take another couple of weeks to get going. He may not make a difference this year but Jack has at best another 2 years of solid footy left. Then what do we do? Lynch will be around for another 6-8 years with plenty of upside.nikolasmia said:I have a very unpopular opinion on Tom Lynch

Yes his form thus far has been pretty ordinary but i think that has more to do with our game plan and lack thereof.
The coaches should be looking at a system that involves Lynch, Riewoldt and Balta in the same forward line. You don't need 5 small forwards if you have marking talls. Game has moved away from that.
Agree about Jack going into the ruck. Absolute stupidity by the coaching panel.
