Lynch !!

Surprised he was played. Its been a while since we've seen such an underdone player returning from injury come straight in like that. He looked knackered towards the end of the first. Lucky it was carlton.

I thought he was beaten easily by weitering but then could have easily had at least 6 goals if he could have caught a ball.

Lynch has also been in recovery and hasn't joined the main training drills at all over the pre-season. You can do all the running you want but you need that in game work to get really fit to play out 4 quarters

He was rusty. He was stuffed by QTR time.
Wait till he gets match fit.
Early xmas, the Bags of goals will come.

He'll really benefit from the match fitness. Made plenty of errors but never stopped working.
3 goals a great return first game up.

Our disposal efficiency i50 needs to get better. If it does he'll clean up.

I had been banging on all pre-season that I hadn't seen Lynch drop a mark yet, now I have ;D

Won't happen often, great he made round 1, kicked 3 and got through the game, way more beneficial roaming the wide expanses of the MCG than those of Punt Road Oval.

Played like he hasn't played since June. But my car was covered in dew when I got off the train...will cut him plenty of slack.

Humidity has been high all week and won't clear up until Monday. Expect the slippery, greasy conditions tonight also.

As well as three goals he knocked the ball to McIntosh on the goal line for a major, and brought it down for Nankervis to rove for another. More than adequate debut considering his modified prep.

Yep missed a mark that would have been a certain goal too, then I thought there was one right in front that it appeared his arms were chopped by two opponents when going for the mark. When you think about it, for a guy who hasn't played for so long 3 goals that could have possibly been 5 or 6 was an amazing effort.

Solid performance overall, considering his preparation and the fact that he had 2-3 opponents on him all night.
The combination of Jack and Lynch will be very formidable, once they gel and any teething problems are ironed out.

One worry for me was he and Jack went to the same places lots and lots of times and either got in each others way or brought an opponent to the contest.
That's going to happen as they get used to playing with each other. They're both too smart and too good for it to be a problem for long.

Rapt with his game. Kicked 3, for his hands on a lot, caused some chaos and most of all he moved ok and got through it.

It’s only going to get better. Didn’t expect a lot last night

Wasn't that Riewoldt?

Lynch and Riewoldt combined with two guided taps leading to the goal.

The first of many Jack/Tom team goal assists!

kicked 3 & his touch was way off, scary to think what he can do when he re-finds his touch & gains some proper match fitness, which will come...

He needed the run and was a good chance to get some touch and conditioning.

As others have said, it was really slippery at ground level, not far off light rain conditions.

This is what they talk about when they wonder how long it will take them to click, they'll figure it out pretty quickly then look out, not only will they be 1 out v thier opponent but the other one will have taken his opponent away from the contest. it will click

Is going to be a monstrous weapon especially late in games. Got to the right spots to drop those marks, and towered over his opponents. And we played *smile*. Will slaughter the right side.

Even if they lead to the same spot, Lynch forces the opposition to commit in the air. Collingwood stayed down a lot against us last year to curb our smalls, and the few who did go up tried to intercept mark, knowing we often had no genuine plans to mark to the ball ourselves.

Went about as well as you’d expect first up after 9mth , the symmetry with jack will need time , again first time theyve played together
