I've switched to Macquarie now and enjoying it as an NRL fan i get real NRL talk from Sydney plus other sports.

I wont listen to Lyon and am done listening to Doc and KB (boring as), cant stand Wankley and Maher is a PC sycophant panderer.

Maquarie has won me over with plenty of NRL and AFL, the Sydney style is different but I'm enjoying it so far been a nice change.

Also familiar SEN voices in Ox and Mark Allen (Rather listen to them instead of KB and Dr Turf), Granland, and Schibecsta.

SEN has lost a fair few listeners I reckon.

The ads on Macquarie are just as few and sh!t and monotonous and annoying as SEN though.

I listen to Macquarie as well , pretty much same reasons to you ,

Not just for the content , got more of an old school blokey sports radio feel to to it too IMO which I prefer

Never fear Mr Brightside i will have you on speed dial tomorrow morning.
I trust your just whipping up a bacon and egg muffin a thermos of black coffee and are perched nicely on the boundary line where the lads come out ,so you can over hear anything the medical staff may mention say Gday to Mitch for me

Apparently he told Tom Morris if he plays VFL, he'll only play a half. Can't possibly play AFL.

Cool, half a game at VFL translates to about 3 quarters vs Carlton.

Looks like he’s in!

Rioli. Keep the ball lower coming in.
They struggle to stop him on the run.

Couldn't be more impressive at training today. Out 20 minutes before the rest of the boys to do some extra running then participated and looked good in main training.
Has put his hand up, the coach wants him, only the performance guys can hold him back now.

Apparently everyone outside the club thinks he will be used as our 2nd ruck option.
Apparently the club has made it quite clear he Won’t be used in the ruck

Sensational Caesar. I'm pumped.
Anyone of note in rehab other than Grigg and Caddy? Last week you said Prestia was in the group.

Grigg was the only one in rehab, doesn't look close. Caddy must be doing stuff on the ultra G i reckon popped his head out every now and then and came out at the end of session to have a couple of shots at goal with the boys.
Prestia last week was just management, has had a brilliant pre-season.
Only player i couldn't spot and not one of note was Ben Miller.

Cheers for the reports mate, hope the boys looked sharp, we gotta start games much better than we did in the JLT games.

Lynch kicked a cracking banana goal from the boundary line
Got rid of Garthwaite nice little bump picked the ball off the ground like a rover and snapped a banana through the big sticks
Oleg on the goal line cheering as it went through
That was enough for me

i have always thought of him as a "hoity toity" type.

I'm really amazed by the vitriol on here - and (if I recall) there is an AFL360 thread that has more balanced views.

Gerard Whately presents as a bit of a geek hence people find it appropriate to rip into him?

I find him to be one of the most balanced, informed and perceptive commentators out there. He is rapidly positioning himself to take over from Bruce McAvaney as the voice of sport (albeit not everyone loves Bwuce).

Most importantly - Gerard is one of (if not the only) commentator that asks a question and then allows the recipient the opportunity to respond in full. He doesn't enforce his opinion on anyone, he very rarely interrupts - and he takes his time to discuss the subject with the interviewee. He doesn't put himself at the forefront (look at me look at me) like the old blokey blokey players club tend to do - he takes his role as a commentator seriously and researches his subject (and topic) fully. Very few others can match him.

He may not have played but he knows more about AFL (and many other codes/sports) than the large majority of so called experts.

That everyone on here wants to attack him ............... surprises me.

But like I say leading up to every election:

"Never forget that 50% of the voting public have an IQ below 100!"

PS - I can't back it up - but I like saying it.

:)

I do agree he is good at what he does but i not at all a fan of his for the following reasons -
As you say Bruce is #1 one caller in the game, but he doesn't bang on about rule changes etc every time he speaks, unlike Whateley, which is the main reason i am not a fan of his.

Whateley has had callers on hold for over 25mins, has then heard half of what they had to say, as they disagreed he cut them off to head to the news (the bloke barely got 15 seconds to make his point)
As i say again he is good at what he does but does he really need to be complaining about the state of the game & calling for rule changes every night on 360 last yr as well as on radio? For example he constantly complains about stoppages in our game but drools all over the Superbowl which compared to our game is rubbish to watch.
I am not sure labelling someone as a bit of a "hoity toity" is ripping into them...
