Lynch !!

So what wasn't sensible in your eyes?

And, Ox is 'fair game' but 'reckon he probably shouldn't have gone there.' Dimma has always been a man who takes a stand - as a player and coach and man. Especially where needed. Occasionally gets a bit worked up; just like TL. But never without fair reason.

which of your multiple posts about me would you like me to address first?

I hate the feigned punch.

Jake Lever tried it on Towner.

I hate it
As I've already posted, Tom is fooling around with him. Deliberately feigning because after getting away with whacking Tom in the guts in Q3, he got one back in Q4, and a goal against into the bargain.
Then SC is sooking it up, so Tom has a bit of fun at his expense.

If you want to get upset, go look at the Collins' hit on Jack when he went for that final mark that brought a bloodied nose and eye, resulting in stitches.
Not even a free.
Best to be upset by real blows. No feigning required.

Schwarz is very poorly informed for a media commentator. Anyone who watched Gold Coast games knew Lynch had a long history of borderline incidents (one involving Mitch Robinson) before he ever thought of leaving the club. For Schwarz to claim that this aggression has only surfaced in the last month is just mindless Richmond-bashing rubbish. If anything, Lynch has toned it down at Richmond.

Well if Dimma was aiming to get the focus off Lynch he may have just transferred the target to his own back, 24 hours of commentary on Dimma's attack on Schwartz coming up :) .
Bad timing with no other games after ours this week we are certainly dominating the airways. As long as it doesn't distract us on-field.

I reckon Damien knows exactly what he's doing... diverting the criticism off Tom and at the same time hoping it's repaid by Lynchy going that extra yard in return.
Lot's of sacred cows in the media who deserve the odd clip IMO.

As you said, I think you're happy to move on.
But I just want to make the point that fake news is a deliberate media strategy used to get attention/hits/audiences/markets, but also to influence non-discerning audiences with certain agendas. This worked a treat with all who piled onto TL. The degree of hypocrisy by some of these media eggsperts and the morally ambivalent AFL is disgusting.

Tom had to be backed through this shitstorm.

So true. My favorite Lynch video clip

I know this is a fan forum so don't expect too much balance, but yeah, great points Big Richo. Go on other fan forums/Big Poopy and you see that fans of other clubs say pretty much the same things said here... the media is out to get us, the AFL loves Richmond and biases the system/draw/MRP for us, Dusty is the AFL's love child who is allowed to fend off to the neck/face etc etc.

You but it has to be placed into context.

They are all *smile* and we arent

"The attention to Lynch is nothing special or out of the ordinary but people see it as an attack because they are looking through the lens of unconditional support for their player and team. Talk to a Geelong supporter and they will tell you Hawkins and Ablett were suspended because of media witch hunts and Tom Lynch is getting an easy ride."

That's true. Talking to and reading other fan forums can be rather interesting. I found Whately's defence of Ablett's first two elbows to the head of oppo players as being his way of protecting himself after 300+ games was cringeworthy. He admitted that when Ablett punched Milo in the face the third week in a row that it deserved a week. The Hawkins hit got a lot of attention, but it was his third incident of the year and was a bad look. Lynchy needs to get the silly stuff out of his game, but keep the at the ball aggression. I doubt he will be silly again this season.

"The best example I can think of is a very good state cricket wicketkeeper through the 90s and early 2000s. He was a fine player and seemed a good bloke but I doubt he has a friend outside of his team mates from the time he played because of the things he said on the field. Nothing racist or otherwise illegal but he would consistently offend players with the stuff he said to them. Taking it too far would be the simplest way to put it I guess."

I am guessing his nickname might be Chuck.
Chuck played the game hard and I would suggest didn’t need to scrounge for friends in opposition teams.
A grounded Wonthaggi boy with lifetime unconditional friends and family.
I gather Lynch would be the same

Not hostility, just scorn for your weak-kneed angle; along with others.

I watched Footy Classified last night and thoroughly enjoyed it because they all called it out for what it was - a beat-up - led by Fox Footy, Gawwy and Healy and co. and carried over to SEN where the mincing Gerard, Dwayne and co. fanned the spark. Then you have discredited nuff-nuffs like both Robinson and Blobbo, plus one of the ex-players (there's a few) who has somehow built a whole career around an inflated ego, Schwartz, chiming in with personal attacks.

They went on to highlight Collins punch of Lynch (after receiving a strange free kick) and Witts coming in to provoke a possible melee, but our players, including Tom, just got on with the game ignoring this very questionable adjudication. No accountability from the AFL for any actions by the GCS choirboys though, this must have still escaped your notice.

The whole FC panel were in agreement. Even Eddie was tolerable on it (perhaps due to inability to attend long restaurant lunches currently?). The comments of Ross Lyon (excellent) and even Lloyd (fair, honest and supportive of what KPFs cop) have all been reported on here or with links to other sites' transcripts. Overall, probably one of the best FC programs I ever have watched because, rarely, RFC got objective coverage which included cautionary advice for TL not to cross the line.

This media beat-up even brought our beloved Richo out from hiding behind his, "No I am never biased to my old club, will never back them up for risk of threatening my CH.7 job", came and spoke strongly but wisely in favour of TL.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the RFC haters wanted to position the AFL to be looking forensically at us and Tom especially, in order to maximise the chance of a suspension at a crucial time, if he steps over the line even mildly again as he has done this season. The highlighting of the club's alleged long list of offences (mostly all quite minor) is part of the narrative to categorise as a 'thuggy' team who succeed on the back of getting away with over-aggressive, underhand antics.

It's a load of BS, but some either couldn't spot it, or weren't prepared to stand up and back their great club, despite its excellence in nearly all respects over recent years.

well said Leon where do you get the time and energy for this lengthy stuff

No issue with Dimma’s comments. Entitled to defend the player, who has copped what the AFL/MRP deem to be his right whack. If there’s an issue, it’s with the system, and that’s where all grievances should be directed.

If you’re going to use comments like “knucklehead” and “goos of the year” you deserve a similar response.

Dimma’s been a bit of an angry ant this year. I think the lack of Mrs Hardwick in the hub has brought out more of the nuggety back pocket in him.

Torn between
1. Good on Dimma for sticking up for his players
2. Adding oxygen to what has become a pretty tedious subject

I think it’s great that Dimma stuck up for one of his boys. I think he’s taken a leaf from one of his old mentors Kevin Sheedy in the way he’s done it. Some of these former players in the media do need to take a look at themselves and their actions before they open their big traps.
