Every time there is any negative coverage of anything Richmond it is deemed 'over the top'. There's always extreme elements of coverage on any issue but at the end of the day the coverage is what it is. It reflects the level of interest. The sensitivity here is pure patriotism.
This has been building with Lynch for quite some time and there's a lot more to it than just what you see. As much as it might defy the views commonly held in this forum, most journos aren't stupid or badly informed. They chat to players and coaches all the time and do plenty of backgrounding. Lynch's behaviour hasn't been popular for a while and the media have clearly sniffed that out.
I like him as a player and I like the way he plays footy but he has lost his way a bit with the non-footy stuff. Aggression and power is great, cheap shots and acting like a jerk do you no favours.
I don't think comparing the usual aspects of footy like backman niggling forwards is the right fit either. That happens every week. Giving a bloke lying face down on the ground a clip to the back of the head not so much. Pushing off a defender to lead is normal, throwing a punch to the guts not so much.
It's not the worst stuff in the world, he just needs to pull his head in.
Hi TBR
With respect, how do you know "This has been building with Lynch for quite some time and there's a lot more to it than just what you see".
I dont mean to be disparaging to you, and I never post as everyone knows, except once or twice. But NO, I dont agree with you - most of the media actually are quite stupid and actually make up stories. Most, if not almost all, the footy journos do no research, dont really watch the games, most dont know the rules - and most 100% make up stories - aiming as low as they can get. They are insecure about their jobs and positions (which they should be b/c most of them are totally hopeless and wouldnt get a job in any decent media outlet) and they are so dumb and lazy that rather than do the work to understand and write on the game, they create stories based on what others say and think. Fox footy articles are based solely on what a few of their people have said on their shows.
The pulling down of Lynch is not paranoia as a Richmond fan. It's the worst of what is now cancel culture on all social outlets. And its amplified 1000% when its Richmond. Just 5-6 weeks ago, it was Jack's turn. Then the groping which was disgusting but everyone else did it. Prior to that it was our supposed demands when in the hub - something Benny Gale pretty much said had no merit when interviewed on 3AW.
You tend to infer that Lynch is not so nice as if you know this somehow. Really?
