Little things that annoy you....

This might be my number 1.

The person who drives into the middle of an intersection, comes to a stop, and only then puts an indicator on. You're an absolute *** if you do that in the inside lane of a busy 2 lane intersection that you've been waiting ages to get through.
Some don't even drive forward to the middle of an intersection to stop and give way when the light goes green. I've noticed a lot of Vic Roads standards dropping when learning or too many dumb drivers nowadays.

People who won't go past a truck on a multi lane freeway.

For example, pulled out onto the Monash from an on ramp. I'm behind a car doing 90 in a 100 zone (bad enough) but still enough to creep up beside a truck in the lane next to them.

They jump on the brakes and slow to about 78-80, simply terrified to drive past the truck, sitting on its left rear tail. I'm stuck behind them, can't get out behind the truck because everyone else is running up its arse, and this nanny in front of me just refuses to go past the truck, continually jumping on their brakes.

Yeah I hate that, if you're that scared you shouldn't have a licence.

Or what about the idiots who won’t overtake a cop car, or slow down to about 20 under the limit just coz the cops are parked at the side of the road.
They’ve already booked someone *smile*!
Morons

I knew a cop once years ago who said they used to see how slow they could get before anyone got brave enough to pass them

Should have just rammed them

Yep. I've seen many showing the same fear with the trams. No need to drive behind the left rear of it if there's no traffic in front of your lane and no tram stop nearby.

Part of my frustration is that I used to drive trams, which means I was taught how to read traffic a long way in front of me. The moronic things people do in front of trams is astounding, bloody things can't swerve. But the real clincher is what you say, FFS the location of the tram is a given, it isn't going to squeeze you into the gutter, it is on tracks. If there is room to pass then go ahead! I do remember a couple of incidents while driving trams which made me laugh. I accelerated from the lights in a tram, idiot next to me accelerates to pass me but they barely accelerated faster than my 25 odd tonnes of tram, I had to back off so they didn't go straight into a parked car . . . bloody tempting not to though! Once, driving along Acland St I had a car almost double parked (more accurately sort of 1.5 parked). I looked and figured I had maybe 2 inches of clearance so I accelerated and passed very close at speed - the look on the guy's face was priceless, he thought I would collect him, lucky he didn't open the door or it would have been gone. You gotta have some fun.

I remember when I was learning to drive. I moved across to turn and then indicated. My teacher asked me why I indicated. I said, because I am turning. He said you already moved into the turn lane, so it was pointless indicating because everyone already, belatedly, knew I was turning. Lesson learned - always indicate before making a move, always indicate when it is actually providing more information for the drivers around you. I always make sure I indicate before it is obvious I am turning. If drivers are predictable and provide as much notice of what they are doing as possible, the roads run smoother and are safer for everyone.

One issue these days is people trying to drive while doing something else in the car. FFS, just drive, don't text, don't read, etc, just drive.

I've had a couple over the years where people cannot merge from an on ramp to a freeway. They slow down on the ramp waiting for someone to slow down from 100 kph to create a gap big enough to let them in, instead of speeding up to freeway pace and then simply slotting into the gap. I've had a couple of the *smile* wits actually come to a complete stop waiting for a gap n when your driving a loaded toy truck it's a half kilometre run along the emergency stopping lane to crank up enough speed to match traffic pace and merge in.
Best ones I've ever had are a couple of numb nuts that have decided half way up a freeway on ramp that they were entering the wrong freeway so decide to hang a U turn to drive back off the on ramp. Talk about *smile* frightening.

Imo the standard of driving has declined quite a bit in the few decades, I often wonder how some of these f wits get a licence.
A few years ago I was driving on the Monash heading outbound between High Street rd & Warrigal Rd. Thick traffic & I'm stuck behind this clown (a green P plater) doing 80 in a 100 zone & wandering all over the place. Cars are flying past on either side of me so no chance to change lanes. Next thing a fuel tanker is passing in the right hand lane & I see the car in front veering across towards the back wheels of the tanker, at the very last second it swerves to avoid hitting them. Truly it was millimetres from disaster. Did that stop the clown, no siree. There was break in traffic & I was able to pass this idiot young female who was texting on her phone. Unbelievable.

I kid you not.

Driving standards have fallen through the floor. Badly. 15 or so years ago you'd come across the odd display of bad driving here and there. Now, it's like every single time you jump in your car.

I'm an A1 rated driver. Have been most of my life. My premiums went up a massive $300 this year. I checked other insurers. Same. Gone through the roof. So I rang up my insurer to ask why and they said a few things were causing it (not the least of which was the big increase in cost of repairs), but the number 1 reason they said was the massive explosion in accidents and claims.

It's like a war out there now on the roads.

90% of the time bad or wayward driving is due to mobile phone use.

Another element to it. Studies are suggesting that neurological development for the task of risk assessment is being impeded by modern day, sanitised living and raising of children.

Doesn’t bode well for an activity like driving, where one’s brain is continually thinking on its feet, scanning and calculating risk and taking action accordingly.
