Bit excited about the shiny new toy there Rinso and chucked the old one back in the toy basket!

Vickery has some excellent skills for a big fella. A bad year this year no doubt, but in his 30 goal year he was at times running at the best conversion rate from a set shot in the AFL. If you catch any of the replays this year look out for some of his lightning fast handballs, or balking around mid fielders trying to tackle him. Needs to get his confidence back but his best can be very good.

Re: Welcome Liam McBean at pick 33

McBean is very soft apparently (according to a Melbourne based AFL talent scout) and won't play any senior footy in 2013.

he looks good but like Linus said you are seriously underestimating the skills of Vickery. He can look awkward at times but he is quicker, more evasive and better skilled than he looks.

I suspect we don't expect him to

We don't, but, this talent scout reckons McBean was worthy at a late pick at best. Reminds him of Cale Morton.

I would be surprised if he played before 2015. Still a good pick though. I also reckon I would be a bit soft if I was as tall and skinny as he is.

Oh well, if all the talent guys had the same opinion on every player it would be a boring draft wouldn't it.

So far I have seen Mr Bean rated as a tall Cale Morton and the next Dean Cox ;D

Exactly, his opinion only.

As soon as u mentioned a Melbourne talent scout Skillz it kinda through out the point being made, they should worry bout getting their own picks right that critiquing Richmonds, Mcbean is 18 yrs old and one of the most skillful big men that ive seen over 2 meters tall, his dual sided and extremely good overhead, mobility and agility is just wow....granted that he needs to pack on 15 kgs but has the next 2 yrs to do that, we r not expecting Mcbean to come out and ruck next year blind freddy would know that....

Being bagged by Melbourne is really like an endorsement.

Re: Welcome Liam McBean at pick 33

Wasn't a Melbourne recruiter. It was a Melbourne based interstate recruiter. Melbourne don't have recruiters.

Re: Welcome Liam McBean at pick 33

Heh heh Rabblebourne cum Foreign Legion. The heads are inflating. I hope Messiah Dawes gets over that calf injury.

Re: Welcome Liam McBean at pick 33

Really like this pick, so versatile and his kicking skills off both sides are just amazing. Reckon this will be our pick of the draft, the kid could be anything when he bulks up.

Fair enough. Neeldy does it all I suppose.

That's right. He is a Melbourne based scout for an interstate AFL club.

Me too. He'll make them worse. :hihi

Re: Welcome Liam McBean at pick 33

Mathew Lloyde (I know you all love this bloke) suggested on 3AW he had seen a lot of McBean, he is from his own suburn club, Loyde really rates him. So does Shifter Sheehan. Lloyde has spent a lot of time with all top line draftees being a part of the AIS program. He thinks Vlastuin is a good ball winner but needs to work on his tank for AFL - which we have all heard.

I had been told all year McBean would go late first round at the absolute latest. He was a slider who we snapped up. Win for us. Just not sold he's a ruckman though. More a 2nd ruck KPP.

Agree again, he's your classic spare parts player who should offer some structural flexibility. But all things said and done, we still need to address our succession plan for Maric, at the moment we seem to be recruiting an awful lot of second ruckman.
