Interesting that he gives *Unresolved Nick-Name" a bit of a kick up the arse. :hihi

Never too early to tell a player "harden up princess"

Re: mcbean -- birth of a legend

This one probably will, Colonel. Looks like we may have an AFL class player coming through. Hope so.

I watched McBean closely on Saturday.

A few things stood out for me;

* He has a beautiful kicking action. Something you rarely see with big blokes.
* His speed off the mark and agility when the ball hits the ground.
* Is not physically intimidated. Numerous times he would walk/run past a Hawks player and would give him a good bump or shove. He was got into Spangher a few times.

Yep, good call Smokin. He did drift out of the game & lacked some concentration at times. but that's OK, he's a pup.

The thing leysy loved & its whats separates the OK overhead marks to the great one's is his ability to take the ball at its highest point without breaking stride. Don't underestimate either the importance or difficulty of it.

Its a tough skill to do & not many can. When you're 202cm, the sky can be the limit if you have the other base attributes ticked off (agility, speed, skills, courage etc). Strength is the one that now needs to get there.

A brief sample of McBean's agility.

Re: mcbean -- birth of a legend

Was/is a mad Tiger supporter. Was a midfielder as a kid but grew 30 cm in one year to become a ruckman. Will be a serious player for us an in years to come will be seen as the steal of the draft.

can someone confirm or deny he is a childhood tiger fan? If so, more than halfa, a 3/4y at least.

. This story gets better and better. Happy to wait for the Paul Salmon'esque debut till 2014 (we should bin this thread and get a quote for the 2014 rising star now)

Boner McBean has a ring to it.

Re: mcbean -- birth of a legend

Ah, some great reports filtering in.

The boy has the cornerstones, the scaffolding, of a one-touch forward roaming the danger zone better than Kenny loggins ever did. A migraine for opposition coaches. Try and stop this maurauding giraffe.

We have one here, make no mistake.

The only question is - does dimma have a kinky streak? My guess is nada. Won't see the bean till next year.

Re: mcbean -- birth of a legend

how big is his head and ears, and hairy hands.... by the way who is the kid with him ;D

I reckon if Beenie keeps working and improving, we might see him for a game or 2 in the second half of the season.

Beenie I reckon. So many possibilities with the Mcbean name that its back to basics for the lad. Also gives a good solid blue collar workhorse feel to the kid, just like a ruckman should have.

Actually that should be Beanie

Re: mcbean -- birth of a legend

Ah, The McBean thread: PRE's free-love parade, place of unfettered idealism, untouched by The Suits. Just the tonic after the bad trip out west.

Dig it, man. Dig it.

I was standing in the forward pocket at the northern end and particuarly in the first half he took some beautiful marks on the lead. He didn't just canter along, he was going at full tilt. Spangher stood no chance.

Not wrong. Vickery did it at times on Friday and his impact was huge. Can he back it up this week?
