Just when we couldn't get anymore depressed, here are some more facts...

Interesting stuff

Be good to be able to compare the same finals appearances against ladder position at the end of each season.

Here's some interesting facts about our performance since the final 8 system came into operation:

A team winning 12 games has only missed the eight 3 times, Richmond twice, in 1994 & 1998 and Hawthorn in 2003

Teams have failed to win 12 games in a season but still made finals on a whopping 7 occasions. In 1995, WB had 11 1/2 wins and Brisbane had 10 and both made finals. Hawthorn did it in 1996, Brisbane again in 1997, Sydney in 1999, WC in 2002 and Port in 2005. Someone will do it again this year.

Richmond have had 6 ninths. In four of those years, the number of games won would have seen them in 8th spot on four occasions if it had been the following year, assuming that Essendon or whoever will win 11 or less games this year.

Not only do Richmond keep coming 9th or in the bottom four, they are completely out of phase with their choice of years for each.

If Kelvin Moore's shot on goal that hit the post against StKilda last year had been a goal, the Saints would have been 9th, not 4th and Richmond would have been 6th or 7th.

Its uncanny!

amazing we have people turn up to games and sign up as members

We can probably keep that up for another 30-40 too until all those people drop dead.

I think anyone who murders the English language by using the word "bin" as an adjective, should have their RFC membership revoked and be forced to become a Collingwood supporter.
christ mate get the message, not some crappy english lesson, or are we with a bunch of people who never attend games but make love to their computers.

Whilst I don't agree with such severe punishment for the crime (it's not like anyone was murdered!), I must be showing my age, because I don't really know what it means: "we are bin".

I assume it isn't good, but beyond that - such as the severity it implies - I'm lost.

As much as i love my Tige's, i can't wait for this diabolical season to end.

The only thing i'd like to see is either the Saint or Bulldogs win the flag.

Absolutely disgusted with our playing efforts ONCE AGAIN & until we learn how to win, nothing's going to change.

it's a very generic term mate and the severity is subjective

i was at the zoo yesterday when channel nine was there recording a story on the pregnant elephant.
as a part of the story they made the elephant kick a ball { you may have seen it on last nights news } anyway the reporter asked me about the elephant and i told her i thought she kicked better than most of the tiger footballers :hihi

depressing fact: now that carlton has been confirmed as a participant in this years finals series, we are now the only team left who hasn't made the finals since 2002.
an even more despressing fact: if brisbane and essendon also make the finals (which appears likely), it will mean that every team bar richmond has made the finals since 2006. so in the space of 4 years (2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009), every AFL team bar richmond will have made the finals, with our last apearance being a further 5 years behind in 2001.
WE ARE BIN!

If anything, it backs up what I have said before.....that things can change around quickly if we get all our infrastructures and off-field personnel right.

I am sure all these other clubs prior to 2006 had periods where they wanted the list dramatically changed, that they urged the club to tank and get the top draft pick because they were so *smile*, etc.

I think this fact you show proves that you don't need to tank and bottom out over a period of years.

I was referring to premierships but I think finals are a long way away too. This current group isn't talented enough and by the time we get some quality talent after GC and WS rape the drafts and give them time to mature, this group will be pushing retirement age. That is of course unless we pull a rabbit out of a hat and get at least 4-5 quality players out of all our picks this year and somehow do the same when we have picks over the next few years.
one ray of hope we are bound to get pick 4 next yr. better than a poke in the pants with a blunt stick any day of the week.

To be fair, Miller and Wallace have set us back 10 years not 5 with the impending inclusions of GC and WS.

10 years? and I believe Spud put us back another10 years - so thats 20 years: all we need is another couple of coaches to put us back another 9 years and we'll be premiership material again!

Ah Ian4, I can't wait to find out if your keyboard survives the experience of you checking out the Journo Boards today. :hihi
