Just when we couldn't get anymore depressed, here are some more facts...

fitzroy has played more finals in the past 29 years than us

:hihi :hihi Many would argue that the University sides of the early 20th century played a more attractive and skillful brand of footy as well. That's what Leysy thinks anyway; he witnessed it first hand.

Whilst we have won 10 flags, 4 were before 1935 and 5 were between 1967 and 1980. That leaves a lot of bleak periods in our history.

Unfortunately, I can't see this one ending any time soon. If the Saints win the flag this year, then that leaves Footscray and Melbourne as the only clubs to have gone longer since their last flag, whilst Freo, the "Richmond of the West", are yet to win one.

What a basket case we are.

I just had to open a new bottle of scotch to help me after reading this thread....close the thread....plllleleeeasssse.

WE ARE BIN LADEN! Sorry just had to put that in. ;D

If we had a better season as last year, we would've made the finals this year considering Saints winning nearly every game. 8th spot just needs 10 wins and you're in.

funilly enough, i say the word bin a lot, but if i wanna put a stronger emphasis on the word, i sometimes tack "laden" on the end :hihi

The idea of an independent tribunal to decide on draft picks/priorities would surely take all of this into consideration.
A positive......just think all of the above, yet we enjoy record memberships. The tiger supporters are the greatest on earth. We are a breed all of our own and when you meet a stranger who barracks for the Tiges there is an instant empathy.
Cheer up lads, the winds of change are upon us. We will reclaim our rightful place in the order of things.

honestly... a part of me has lost the passion of watching the tigers.... sadly i believe its coz the big number 12 aint running around!

Life after richo is looking bleaker and bleaker by the day :(

We have won 5 flags in the last 42 years - still better than most teams.

A point I reminded some cocky pies supporters on saturday night

Last 42 years tigers 5, pies 1 :)

I think anyone who murders the English language by using the word "bin" as an adjective, should have their RFC membership revoked and be forced to become a Collingwood supporter.

We seem to peak at ninth bottom out then rebuild to ninth again

The club has no-one to blame but itself for its incompetence. The stats show that the draft works in evening up the competition and giving clubs a chance of success. We have stuffed up our chances big time.

I have looked up some stats that are both depressing and interesting.

Over last 27 years ( since 82 ) we have
- played finals 2 times.
- finished in bottom 4 14 times ( every 2nd year on average )
- won 4 spoons
- had some years where we won less games/were worse than spoon years. eg 87 spoon 5 wins, 93 2nd last 4 wins.
- come 9th six times

It is interesting where you compare finals appearance.

Over last 27 years ( including this year ) we have made finals twice as I said. The next worst is St.Kilda who have played in the finals 9 times in the same period. The next worst is 9 compared to our 2 !!!!!!!!

That is not including Freo and Fitzroy because they have obviously not been in the AFL the whole 27 years.

So of the teams in that period St.Kilda average making the finals once every 3 years and they are they have the 2nd worst record. We average finals once every 14 years. Obviously with 8 of 16 making finals each year, the average should be finals every second year.

And of course our finals ( or lack of finals ) record is only going to get longer over the next 3 or 4 years at least. Now thats depressing.

This thread should be compulsory reading for all Richmond players.

Although I'm sure they will when Mike Sheahan gets hold of this thread and publishes it.

amazing we have people turn up to games and sign up as members

very true, yet the myth that we are fickle still dribbles out of the mouths of many.
most teams in the league would have folded after such a disgraceful record.

our recruiters should be ashamed of themselves.
