Spot on. Caddy is a hack. He's a Ryan Crowley type, eventually you come to realise he's just very average.

And reality is he is soft in the real contest, very selective when he attempts to contest.

Can't believe he is being played in front of miles.

Ryan Crowley? Strange comparison. Not one I'd have put forward.

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

Caddy is a role player and is doing a great job. Bulldogs had a team full of Caddy types and won a flag. You can't have 18 Dustin Martins.

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

He's ok. Not giving us as much as some expected. Pick 24 seemed about right but was no bargain.
I have always seen him as a bit of a plodder with ave disposal and that thinking hasn't really changed.
What I have liked is his contested work especially up forward, both in the air and at ground level.
Currently playing his role and helping team balance. No guarantees on his spot in the 22 though going forward.

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

Seems to be playing deeper fwd than what i remember at the cats

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

Happy enough with how he is going, i like his hardness. He is certainly an upgrade on Andrew Moore, Marcon, Lambert and Townsend.
With Dusty's injury he might spend more time in the midfield.

Surely you arent being serious, for example , have a look at the work he did to enable Jack to mark in the square

You are aware the game goes for around 120 minutes. Yes that was good but in the main he is seriously underwhelming. Slow, can't jump and not great in the middle when he goes there.

Not the same type literally, I just think eventually the football public will realise he's not very good, just as most came go realise Crowley was not very good.

All this talk about caddy enabling Martin to play more forward is rubbish when caddy hasn't played a lot of midfield.

And he's not that tough

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

Seems people here were expecting a superstar. You don't get a superstar for pick 24.

He's exactly the type of player we've needed since losing Daniel Jackson. A bull that can kick long and kick the occassional goal.

Finally means we don't have stuff around with players like Townsend and Moore.

Watching replay thought overall he was pretty solid.

don't be condescending please, yes I am well aware how long the game for thank you ::)

I was pointing to a smart piece of play that wont show up in the stats

FYI , in the other 119.5 minutes or so he took 4 marks, dished off 5 handballs, had 14 kicks ,won 9 contested possessions, laid 5 tackles, kicked 1.2 and scored 93 DT points which was 8 highest total & 3rd behing Cotch & Nank for us.

He has got a good leg on him Taz, the last goal that Dusty got come from Caddy off one step from 50 metres out. He is very good on his left as well.

Good summation Taz. Caddy's not a star but he's contributing big time on those stats.

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

What we are getting from Caddy is about par. We might get the odd very good game.

He is useful because he is versatile. He is basically playing third tall a lot. Like Taz I noticed how good he was shielding in both Jack's marks. Important stuff that a Vickery or Griff might not do or execute poorly.

So he has good footy IQ. Inferior midfielder to someone like Miles though.

That's just bloody rude taz, using a whole heap of stats to reinforce your arguments against some beige negative opinion.

As I've said before, it's not one or the other.

We should be playing both. Caddy is a superior forward and very useful, but we need Miles ball winning ability too.

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

Caddy is extremely slow and extremely smart.
Small things he is doing that do not appear on the basic stats sheet are resulting in scoring opportunities.
As long as he keeps doing what he is currently doing the coaches won't give a crap if he averages 18 possies and runs a 6.40m sprint.

In Caddy, Edwards and Griff we have 3 mature forwards who are at best "average" possession winners for their position for their age but above average in their scoring contributions.

I will take efficient players over inefficient any day. They keep you in games when you are struggling to win the ball.... and their contracts cost less meaning you have space to pay guys like Dusty the big bucks.

Why can't we play both?
