Joel Bowden farewell [Merged]

I hope after today people will realise that VFL form counts for very little and that Bowden played one season too many. I have some good memories, but more bad ones that I ever should have after the night he kicked a few against the Eagles and it looked like the club had uncovered a real goer.

He was a real dud in the late 90s but (like Richo) we kept him because of the father-son fixation our club had (or still has).

Can you explain why you think Joel is lucky that the club is giving him a farewell game at all given how unsuccessful this club has been over the course of his career please ToO. I don't understand that sentiment at all.

Just sorry to see him go out that way and I'll leave it at that. Deserved better.

Going by a few other performances today AFL form doesn't count for much either.

Laughable the way some are carrying on about Bowden being treated shabbily.

Fact is he is lucky that the club is giving him a farewell game at all given how unsuccessful this club has been over the course of his career and where we are at.

Open your eyes people. Bowden has had a good career but it is at the end.
THIS IS probably the most stupid thing you have ever said TOO - "Fact is he is lucky that the club is giving him a farewell game at all given how unsuccessful this club has been over the course of his career and where we are at."

Anyone here Joel on SEN this morning? he was on from 8 until 8.30. He came across exceptionally well until the final comments when he said he thought the Richmond culture was pretty good despite the feedback. Eddie McGuire engaged him in a debate about the proposed restricted free agency that the AFLPA are pushing for and he handled himself remarkably well up against Eddie who tends to overpower others especially Watson and Maher. I don't think he won the debate because he didn't manage to refute some of McGuire's issue but it was certainly a draw. I hope the club retains him in some form, maybe with the new indigenous centre.

I wouldn't mind seeing him kept in that sort of capacity at the club, but I always thought he wanted to go back to the Territory and try and help some of the indigenous kids in tough situations over there.

Yes, I agree too.

Joel has talents & experience in areas that would help the RFC enormously off-field.

I too hope he is not lost to us.
