I have a vision of a Schulz article on the RFC site...................... :theyareontome

Re: Jay Schulz

Yes the usual spin story at this time of year for *smile*............been there a long time and hasn't shown anything. This will be the last preseason story you read on this dud as surely his farewell season.

Re: Jay Schulz

Boy o boy..some of you guys are going to eat it. Jay will kick 50 plus this year :hihi

I doubt it, he is contracted until the end of 08.
To be fair he has had plenty of injury troubles Laff.
Hopefully for Jay and the club he gets a good run at it this year so he can be judged on his unhindered abilities.

PS: I hope you are right momentai. :)

Re: Jay Schulz

No worries T of O. One part of his game which is often overlooked is that he is tough and will stand up for teammates when the need arises. He is also just nasty enough to provoke the odd opponent.
Someone mentioned Ben Holland was a hard man. :spin I hope they were talking about the ex Tiger mid because big Ben has always been totally soft. Not so Jay.

Re: Jay Schulz

Nice little article. The idea of him and Polak doing a sneaky swap to try to pinch a couple of goals has appeal ... in theory.

Good like Sarge. If he fires, one gets the feeling we'll certainly be thereabouts.

Re: Jay Schulz

injury or no injuries this year if he doesnt perform...send him on his way...

Re: Jay Schulz

5th pre-season. I must admitt I am losing patience with Schulz.

Today is about the first time he is in the media for good reasons.

Hasnt been consistant for my liking. If he doesnt produce this year, I say good bye and on ya bike.

Re: Jay Schulz

I reckon he might have a bit of currency at the trade table. Not saying we do it, just an observation. He's an SA boy right? Part of a Messon/Maric deal?

Re: Jay Schulz

I reckon he has heaps of ability but hasn't been able to stay on the park consistantly. He is a great mark, has a lovely kick, is a good size, has courage and moves around ok on the field. He has almost every attribute you want from a KPP except consistancy in finding the pill and durability. I reckon with a bit of luck and confidence he could still be a very, very good AFL player.

Talk of trading him is ludicrous when you look at our current KPP stocks. If Schulz, Polak, Riewoldt and Hughes can all make it as Key Position Players in the next few years and someone like Thursfield recovers from injury our KPP's look like quite a talented bunch. Only problem is they are all as yet unproven.

Re: Jay Schulz

I was more than happy with his progress last season. He needed to step up and did so.

It is not as though we have an abundance of 21 year old big tough units who can take a screamer and kick accurately for goal.

Expect him to kick at least 40 goals this season.

Re: Jay Schulz

Ive said it once and ill say it again (even if it does hurt me to say it) but Jay Schulz seems to me to be a victim of the Richo orientated era. Luckily he is 21 and has time.... but the amount of times ive seen players ignore Jay on a great lead for Richo in a contest is disturbing....for me Jay is a better kick and possibly could be a better mark than the great man...however i think his time will only come when Richo has finished up :'(

Totally agree 8ty and his performances in Richardson's absence would back that statement up.

Re: Jay Schulz

Laff says it exactly as it is.......................................it's a total spin ya lemmings! :bighug

Re: Jay Schulz

Schulz is 21, and is contracted to end of 08 - fair enough KPP take longer development time so if he hasn't improved his consistency in 44+ games of opportunity, then trade or delist.

On the other hand Moore is 23 and is still on the list.... Limbach was delisted at 19....

Re: Jay Schulz

Jay Schulz is 21 and people are into him in a big way. ???

He will be a good palyer for us as a full forward. I reckon he'll kick 40 goals this season and provide a leading target.

He has a lot of ability - a fast lead, good hands, bit of mongrel and a straight kick - watch out for a big year.

Re: Jay Schulz

Other then the out an out Champions of the game there is not many who can play good footy without playing a lot of games in a row,I agree were age is a factor for Jay but the main thing I feel is this kid simply hasnt got enough games in a row at any level to get the feel an match hardness needed at the top level.
Last year at Coburg as he regained fitness an confidence in his body he started to dominate which lead to some very handy cameos at senior level,If Jay can play 22 games this year, this argument will be done an dusted as he defiantley has the tools an the want to be a more then handy Afl player, his critics should not be fooled by his casual demener :veryupset :hihi

Re: Jay Schulz

sheesh he played 2 good games and competed or tried in others and ferals are happy. a 4 possesion a game footballer is not good enough.
