Gun singer. Great awesome unique voice, have always rated him highly. What are others opinions of him? Thos who rate him, give me what you consider his best three songs. I saw him play live at Robe recently and he was simply awesome. Got my first James Reyne album as a youngster in around 86 I think and have always loved him music.

My top 3 in no particular order:

Burning Wood, Fall of Rome, Rainbows Dead End.

Great songs, many others could have got a mention Errol, Glamourpuss, Little Criminals, Motors Too Fast etc. Endless supply of good songs this artist. Rate him highly want to know if he his appreciated as much by others.

Not a fan of his solo stuff Shawry but sure am a big Crawl fan.

My fave Crawl three (because I'm no solo fan)

1) Ain't it always the way
2) Oh no not you again
3) Unpublished Critics

Jimmy's a top singer with a distinctive pronunciation of lyrics.

IMO, he had the best-looking Aussie mullet back in the 80's.

These surfies from the Peninsula had a lot of good songs especially "........mother's little helper......" ;D

Have you seen the Liberation Blue Acoustic series? They offer a different slant on some Aussie icons. James Reyne features on a couple of the albums.

I have the Black Sorrows, The Church and Mental as Anything and ordered a couple more this week using Christmas vouchers. They are fast becoming my current favourite music.

Sorry to say TOT, but hearing old tunes in acoustic sound kills me.

Everybody's different.

It is probably a sign of getting older, I'll probably start appreciating hearing old tunes in elevators soon.

Which way would you prefer to hear songs: original or acoustic?

Geez even the Angels in acoustic ;D

Actually, I like both. There's a lot of covers that I like also; I try to keep an open mind on music. I even bought an album of original artists doing their hits in Spanish recently, mainly to annoy my brother-in-law on Christmas Day.

Getting the thread back on topic, there's actually a chance that you can understand some of what James Reyne is singing when you listen to an acoustic version of his songs.

I like his original crazy voice better.

"Bayoo tiffle pipple" ;D

Boys Light Up's got the funniest lyrics I've ever seen.

Massive fan myself. First got into him in 1988 on a bus trip to central Oz with school. Had the walkman and the only three things I listened to were Sirocco, Sons of Beaches and Boys Light Up. It's been 20 years of pure listening joy. Met him a couple of times and always has time for a fan.

Way to many songs to just list a couple but I'm really enjoying Every Man a King with Broken Romeo and Light in the Tunnel (Reprise) the standouts.

Red Light Avenue and I Don't get Out Much Anymore are favourites as well. I could go on for an hour but you'd get bored.

I'm back in Melb Jan/Feb and will be heading to the Peninsula Lounge on the 25th. Can't wait.

I'm with the other lean and lear
My finger on the pulse
And my hand around a beer"
