Jake King

Pick 25 rookie draft, not main draft. Kinda strange combo Jakey n Lids being mates. Bloody good for a laugh Jakey holding court.
I think his first run in our colours was an Annsett Cup game at Manuka Oval ,
when he got on the ground , he ran straight to Adam Goodes and thrusting his chest into him , managed to push him well away from the ball
I think a couple people around me were going WTF , its only a practice game , he was making a statement
he did a couple of ok things that game , a curly haired Shane Edwards caught the eye that day

i did enjoy the Didak story too. Jake must have been a bloody prick to play against but we sure loved him.

I dont like Didak, or the Pies, but i reckon they responded well to King hitting Didak.
And Kingy responded well back!

I cant believe he didnt get a free though!

I'm interested in who the kids might have been that were meant to debut. If they had parents flying in from interstate, could have been
Gourdis, Clayton Collard. Alroy Gilligan, Carl Peterson?

I can't see any other players drafted from interstate in the years leading up to 2009.
Of those, Gourdis and Peterson the only ones I can remember being near AFL level at that time.

Am I missing someone?
I thought he was talking 2009 so interstate debutants could only have been Gourdis ( or Alroy Gilligan who I think wasn’t even close to senior selection)

Yeah, Essendon had picks 2 & 18 and then no more. We got King at 24 so EssendonIt was a great podcast but Jake’s attention to detail was vague.
Push Up might have got his wires crossed but shows again how much Sheedy, Dodo and his Bummers keep sucking our arse for good players they need. I'm glad they missed this one.

Should have been a free to Jake when he got the ball and was set upon 😂

Funny that he said he got off the melee charge because although he was the cause of it he didn’t contribute to the melee !!

sound like a bloody awful club to be in during the late stages of the Wallace years
The part of it that is incredulous to me is that the Board would get a 1st year skipper in Newman to tell Wallace to resign.

Surely that can’t be true? If it is what an indictment on the Board !!
