Jack Ross

This was a tough night. Better players than Ross were exposed. I thought Ross was ok. Comparatively.

Balanced post Jack. Like many Ross was great to half time. He faded but it was still a reasonable performance & slightly more tolerant with fade outs from younger players. Thought it was a step forward.

Agree TOO.
Made a few mistakes. Sometimes was tentative.
But still a kid

He was better than last week. And had a few moments of real intent.
Next week another big test, hope he keeps improving

That kick to Lynch inside 50 is all you need to know that he isn’t AFL standard. Wide open and he absolutely butchered it.
Honestly that kick was such an easy kick to hit. You've got a big guy like Lynch in that much space, while you have plenty of time to deliver it. Anyone that has played some footy knows how easy a kick that is.

Yep. Best to persist now that opportunities are opening up.

we got no other choice really. Have to persist with him and Dow and need to get games into Sonsie, RCD and Stack.

Ross had massive potential, unfortunately our development has ruined him. Trying to turn a pure inside mid to a running more versatile player has de-programmed his ability to win the contest.

It's understandable to an extent as we won 3 flags without any real clearance specialists and placed high importance on running transition mids that can cover ground and obviously wanted to develop Ross into one also.

He panics under pressure and coughs the ball up. Its the same reason we got rid of Naish but at least he could kick. Ross can't even get that right.

I'm also sick of seeing him jogging along 10m off his opponent.

I've seen enough - next

It's like playing Cripps on the wing so he can add more strings to his bow. Our coaching staff have to take some blame here.
The notion that he was ever an inside bull banker is bulldust. Wishful thinking. Like Cripps on the wing? fair dinkum.

I can see why we're playing him, but just can't see any evidence that he'll make it. Not quick or skilled enough, and no tricks. Not terrible, but not much good. Found wanting when the whips are cracking.

Agree. We have nothing but time to lose. Just get the experience in these players and let them develop naturally through the 1sts. Sounds rough but even if we lose, it's the best way to speed things up a bit.

Yep. Another non-contested style of game again. 16 possessions. Only 4 of them contested.

I thought he was alright. Get's more games on the back of that performance

Yep capable of winning a maiden at Pakenham but never going to measure up to city class.

He’s playing ok, what worries me is I don’t think he can get anymore out of himself , imho he lacks pace by foot and mind to be part of a Premiership midfield .
