Ivan Maric

Flogged by a 7 gamer.

I think the best from the big man is behind him.....got a brilliant half a season out of him in 2012 not much else.

Afraid to say it, but it looks that way.

I really like the way Big Ivan goes about his stuff. Plus, I think he's been a fine acquisition to the club in an off-field sense.
That said, the game may be starting to pass by the big lumbering type of ruckman. Clubs more and more are wanting their primary ruckman to be highly mobile and skilled athletes who are not only good at ruck work but also contribute significantly around the ground.
I think Maric may start to struggle in future seasons, particularly if his injured groin is going to be an ongoing problem for him.

Still looks like he's playing injured with that Groin but that ground and conditions would not of helped him yesterday. Looking ahead to next week, the long term forecast looks like more tripe weather as well for Melbourne next weekend but we will need him against their rucks.

IMO not enough time to get fully over the groin so he'll more than likely play injured for the rest of the season.

The club has wrecked him plain a simple & he wont be the same unless fully rested to get over it.

The club needs to get him 100% right in the off season even if it means coming back after next season has started.

Thought I heard Hardwick saying on the radio a few weeks ago that Maric's groin problems would have to be "managed" for the rest of his career.
That's because they keep playing him injured, did he look anything like this when he debuted for us?
Groin injuries require a lot of time & management to get over.

Apparently currently not even on 200.
Hadn't done anything until the 'roids kicked in this year. 200 was plenty per year for a kid still learning to play, probably a bit short this year on the form he's now found, n way way overs for a kid who probably won't play next year along with a bunch of other dopers.

Thought Clarke smacked him when competing in marking situations against each other....Maric just looked very tired.
But the Tigers had 19-8 hitouts to advantage which played a huge role in our clearance dominance.
Overall pretty good game based on that.

Clarke ripped Maric

we have to turn every stone and find another
bloke who can ruck and play forward come trade time.

Big Ivan looks like a wounded beast when he is running at the moment. Its obvious that he is playing crook. I feel sorry for him. Agree we need another ruckman.

Just about every one of his opponents have played good games while Ivan has laboured. Some of his opponents have been 2nd and 3rd stringers but they have still beaten him.

Gets outmarked constantly by his opponents. What little spring he had is now non existent.

Love the big guy, and can't question his heart, but he is a massive concern as we head into the business end.

While he's not what he was last year, I thought he competed hard today and did a decent job, like in the West Coast & Adelaide wins.

Agreed, his leap is noticeably reduced but I think he's managing to get around it just by crashing in. He is also good around the stoppages, he uses his body well. I still worry about his long term future for us, but to me he had a reasonable game.
