Needs help though, hopefully TV is alright next year.

Having Vickery and Maric fit at all times is vital to any future success for us. It's pretty tough at the moment throwing in Mcguane or Miller to the ruck when Maric rests.

Better recruit then N G Brown was
Funny to hear Maxwell on the Game Day on 7 say that after watching the Giants v Port game, one of his 3 things was Giles was the recruit of the year.

That's just a "nowx comment because Giles is fresh in his memory. Now way has Giles been better than maric this year.

Surprising he's spent the last few years roaming around without a PCL in his knee. Would have thought there'd be a fair loss of stability under footballing loads.
Nice of them to finally decide to put a stretchy new lacker band in his knee at last, saves any chance of selection dilemma with to many big men trying to get into finals teams.

I'm happy to admit that I was a bit "Why bother" when the club chased Ivan last year but they have got it 100% right.

His ruck work, especially around goals is exquisite. In recent games we have seen Cotchin, Edwards, Grigg Nahas and Martin all get seriously good opportunities to kick goals from his ruck work at Boundary throw-ins.

Can Vickery step his game up to provide some ruck support next year? If he can, our stocks will go up immensely.

Me too. Did not see this coming. Huge impact. The tap he put down Edwards throat was Simon Madden like. Does look like he is struggling. Not as much lift in his jump, more reach at the moment. But we have a AFL top 5 standard ruckman for the next 6 years.

Massive upgrade on Gus and Browne (not hard to do) but in his 17-18 games for Richmond is for me, moving past our last 2 real ruckmen (Simmons and Stafford). Simply one of those that "just clicked" at the right age and also given the opportunity. His kicking has impressed be and for his size has quite a neat 20-25m pass, have hardly seen him turn it over by foot or hand. Just a massive thumbs up to Richmond for bringing this fella into our club.

Now its a matter attending to his groin soreness post the last game and get him out training just before Christmas.

He is not running deep into defence the way he was earlier in the year, either, which I think was a big factor in those games that we managed to lose recently.

Vickery is fast becoming a key player for us. Maric will be OK as long as he doesn't have to play 80-90% of games on the ball like this year. He really needs someone who can ruck for longer periods to spare his body. Vickery is the only one on our list who can turn into this player.

He was very good again yesterday, but like some others tried to be a bit cute when playing against the Bulldogs pups, with the look away handballs and stuff. But by no means was Ivan the only one doing this yesterday.

It seems to be the Richmond way that when we play *smile* opposition we start to lairise and try and get fancy which frustrates the hell out of me.

no where near as fresh the last few weeks, but still better then anything else by far in the ruck.

He is the most important player in our side, without him our midfield stand a lot less hope of getting on top in games.

Yep.

There are still a couple of pennies that need to drop. The most important one is the dropping penny that allows you to understand that you can't take your foot off the peddle until the opposition has lost interest. The Bullies wanted to turn their toes up about halfway through the second quarter but we kept them within 4 or 5 goals for far too long. That was when the lairising started. Another ten minutes of serious footy would have ended the contest before half-time.

Also early in the last quarter where we had them on the rack and had all the play, it took 10 minutes or so for us to finally hit the scoreboard. They almost become too "sharing" and the overuse of the handball to get others involved becomes counterproductive. There were so many times we were running through the middle with minimal pressure and just kept handballing rather than pumping long, and inevitably the last link in the chain would be sold into pressure.

Its hard to be disappointed with a 70 point win, particularly when they are as rare as hens teeth for us, but really it could (and should) have been so much more than that.

He is our most important player and whilst he doesnt have the flair that Cotchin, Deledio, Martin does he gets the job done time after time and does not go quiet for periods during games.

I would fully expect the B&F to be between Maric and Cotchin.

And also in the first quarter when they were six to nil and scoring at will. Two more would have ended the contest there and then. There would not have been any concerted fightbacks from that point.
