Woke ...... Means judging everyone in the past by the standards of the present.
It is the belief that people who lived a 100 ,500 or 1000 years ago should have known better.
It is like getting mad at yourself for not knowing what you know when you were ten.
Did Columbus commit atrocities ?. Of course , but then people were generally atrocious then just to survive.
Everybody who could afford one had a slave. The Sumerians. The Greeks. The Egyptians. The Romans . The British . The early Americans
The word slave comes from Slav, because so many Slavic people were enslaved & they are as white as the Hallmark Channel but in today's world the truth conflicts with the narrative. The truth has to apologize.
Being woke is like a magic moral time machine where you judge everybody against what you imagine you would have done 1n 1066 & you always WIN.
A couple of years ago, they made a movie called The Aeronauts, in fact they were both men, but the movie made one of them a woman, because, as the other director explained : "representation is important ". So true because Women never get enough credit for the things they did not do.

Another day, another bizarre rant from ol' Tiga

You've got to stop reading all the crap you're getting through these mailing lists. And maybe look up the meaning of woke because you have NFI
Quote " Being conscious of Racial discrimination in Society & other forms of oppression & injustice , past & present " unquote. So it relates to my prior post of Woke. There is the Inactive Woke & the Active Woke. The Inactive, aware but does not take up the cause & looks to the future in peace. The Active Woke gets on the band wagon, thrusts it down every Tom *smile* & Harry's # throat & wants to turn back the clock apologizing for this that or whatever .

# Prime example. Three male names no female. To the Active "Discrimination against the Opposite sex ".

Again, you read it but you didn't understand it. Though not sure why I'm surprised, that's been your thing from the start of this thread.

Aah, I get it now, so ignoring racism, sexism, homophobia et al is fine according to you.

No worries, we all knew where your prejudices lay before this post, they are everywhere.

No wonder you want to vote no, don't want to give those indigenous Australians a voice, being conscious of racial discrimination is something to be criticised.

Nah I look at the Big Picture. The big picture to me is how my ancestors from day one survived allowing me to be born. They survived Tyranny ,Tempest, Famine, Plague, Wars ,Depressions etc etc . On my paternal side they lived in Scotland on the border with England. They endured the wars, banditry ,starvation but survive they did. They most probably had to slew before they were slain. I basically do not like the English but have a soft spot for them. They could not catch three brudders on my Irish Galway maternal side. They were what we call now Political Activists . If caught by the British the nearest tree & a rope was the norm. Two brudders caught a ship out ended up in US of A. The third, a ship out landed Port of Melbourne . Illiterate ,broke but He survived thus in the long run , Me . I am grateful for their resilience . I am grateful to be Australian . I am grateful to the people who have sacrificed their life in protecting this country. For those who sit back on their Wokey butt & dub me a racist, as I post Nay not Yea , suck it up . Open your eyes to the big picture in Putin ,Kim Il Jong & Xi Jingpin.

Keep posting Tigaman. You're doing a lot more for the Yes vote than you can ever imagine.

Hilarious that he calls out his ancestors' incredible resilience while remaining completely oblivious to that of our amazing indigenous people.

It's more likely that your ancestors were causing those things than surviving them.

It could have been worse, they could have been enslaved. Slavery, how terrible it must have been for the poor souls to lose their freedom.

The dumbest part of Tiga's take is that everyone currently alive on the planet had ancestors that were resilient, survived, and persisted, by definition. Tiga thinks his ancestors - and by extension, him, were special.

They weren't.

It cannot be anything but a YES

I saw an interview with an Indigenous academic and he said, "We don't want to be the driver, we are happy to be a passenger that gets listened to...."

That is a smart, fair, and cool way to put it ..

Lol Ants in the pants has had two bites at the cherry.

Tigerman is that the best you can come up with.
What, do you think your ancestors and mine, and I'm sure many others on this site had tougher lives than those who had their freedom taken away when they were forced into slavery.
