How dumb is the Richmond Football Club?

This is a trick question right?

Choosing Francis Bourke over Sheedy for coach springs to mind >:D

What's caused this recent wailing and gnashing of teeth ? Is it because Richo is injured ? FFS people, we've been a rabble for a long time but we're finally starting to see at least the backroom getting sorted. They have announced they are starting to look closely at the footy dept now.

What more do you want ? Instant success ? That's what frawley tried to do and it set us back 10 years. Patience grasshoppers

We have patience Baloo, we support the tigers!

The issue is that the club continues to make the same mistakes over and over again.

i.e. giving up draft picks for recycled players, having soft players instead of hard nuts who scare the opposition, and the cousins/richo injuries that just smack of complete and utter stupidity.

Success is one thing, but attitude and effort is another.

I can only speak for myself but, I would always take a never give in attitude coupled with incredible desperation and desire and a loss over the pitiful performances we have dished up over such a long period of time.

All I ask is for the players and coaches to show me, we are trying as hard as we possibly can.

It really does not look like that to me.

I've shown you the way forward for a couple of years.

Support the club and the efforts of the people in charge and on the field.

Knocking achieves nothing.

We supporters can't get a kick, but our positive attitude can infect the football department and lead to success.

So called supporter's constant negative crap can only lead to the destruction of the club.

Methinks you've watched one too many episodes of Willy Wonka

Thw wailing and gnashing of teeth is getting to me too! It is pretty clear that while there have been some questionable decisions during the Wallace tenure, they are not in the same hemisphere as what went before:

We no longer spend first round picks on opposition stars.
We no longer spend numerous picks on recycles - we have spent some, but nothing like previously.
We are spending more money on the footy department - especially recruiting with reasonable results over the last few years
We are about to get high standard facilities and a large training ground
In Wallace we at least have a well respected and experienced coach. Yes he has failed to do as much with the team as was promised but even Blind Freddy can see that the list has improved.
We are developing the players properly in that senior players are being dropped to Coburg and more young players are making the firsts after fighting their way in. I don't see any games being 'gifted' any longer. Young talls are being developed at the lower level and not being thrown to the wolves before they are ready.
Our footy department is about to undergo a long overdue review which will hopefully lead to further improvement.
The club is making a profit and has record membership.

I think whatever happens this year on the field this year the club is positioned well to improve over the next couple of years.

I ask you, could a club be any dumber than Richmond.

Poor draft picks,

crap game plan,

5 year contracts,

letting injured players continue to play,

poor administration,

etc, etc...................

And now Richo is out for 10 weeks because the medico's and coach let him play on Sunday.

Richmond you are a joke!

Yeah Yeah what a joke we are!!!! :p

See you all at Punt Road and then the "G" Saturday.

Go Tiges. Go B2

if tigers forget their no 1 purpose like some of our post replys, no wonder were *smile*, forget the second rate english lessons.

hmm i believe a more apt question would be is how dumb are rfc supporters.

no no let them be. some small things annoy some while other things annoy others. we all have our annoyances.
claw believes when people complain, more of the same is needed. people need to see their petty annoyances for what they are. i am helping in this regard.

Claw for as long as I have been a member of Punt Road End you have continually and consistantly complained the same thing, our list stinks so draft kids as much as possible.

It is so painfully obvious to everyone that this club has been dreadful at managing it's list, developing players and recruiting.

How can the Richmond Football Club look it's supporters in the eye and say "we did our best?"

The mantra still applies draft the kids ....................... problem is the RFC has drafted a raft of duds.

Ive said it before the 04 draft -Meyer at 12, Pattison at 16 and Polo at 20, along with the 05 disaster of Jon, Hughes and Casserly has been nothing short of a calamity and a huge failure and a major factor as to why the club is still a laughing stock.

We get the same crack at the draft as everyone else. In fact we have been down for so long that we have had better picks than most over the years. Whilst we may have picked poorly here and there, the true problem is not our drafting. These kids are the best 70 odd kids in the country every year. Our problem is what we do with them when we get them. Our developement of the raw talent we get has been discraceful.

We need to hire the best developement people we can get to bring these kids through an induction program that gets their bodies (size, strength, skills, endurance) and minds (concentration, decision making, understanding of game plan, aggression resilience under pressure) prepared for playing AFL football in the first two years at the club.

Unfortunately, in our case, pretty much the whole team needs to go through this induction program from scratch to get them reprogrammed for success.

The new coach can work on our game plan, cull aggressively and fire them up all he likes. Until the whole team is pulling in the same direction with the same 'cultural' understanding of what they are all about, we will not be winning many games.

Agree that 2005 was a disaster but 2004 hasn't sent the club back in the same way. We also picked up Thursfield and McGuane with later picks so the ledger has been balanced somewhat.
