Hot weather

Maybe I miss-judge oceans as been colder rather than warmer.

Just straighten that axis and we'll all be fine! ;D

Yeah, oceans have a complex effect on climate. For example I've read that Great Britain would be about 10 degrees C colder than it actually is if not for the warm North Atlantic Current! England, colder and more miserable than it currently is? wow

On the subject of weather patterns, I'm amazed how a high pressure system can coast along the southern part of Australia and then when it reaches the tasman sea, suddenly stop dead and hang around like a bad smell for a week or two and then when that one decides it's had enough of gawking at the eastern coastline and takes off, another one comes up behind it to take it's place, thus these long spells of heat and only a day of a cool change.

It's like a curse hey Tommo?

Our cricket comp was called off today because of the heat. It's not that hot is it? :-\

How on earth did you soft bunch of cricketers beat us - they don't call the cricket off because of the heat in England!! ::)

No, but having played in the North East County Leagues they should have called it off for the cold plenty of times.

4 jumpers weren't enough. Seriously.

too cold again!!!
For all the moaning about it being hot in summer (what an odd concept, hey) we really only had a hot period from about 12th January til 8th feb and being a nice mid 20s since.

yes it feels like the end of march .................. and I am about ready to wander down to the G for the Carlton game (first game of the season, ..., I mean first game of the round)

In hindsight, that's true and I'm glad the heat has pissed off. We desperately need rain though.

From the 9th of January to the 9th of February ( 32 days ) we had an average max temp of 31.61 degrees per day which included,

7 days of 40 degrees + ( equal record for Melbourne in summer ) the summer of 2012/13 produced 2.
4 days of 35-39.9 degrees
8 days of 30-34.9 degrees
8 nights of 21.5+ degrees
And during this period we had only 8mm of rain.

Was it hot, you betcha, but not as hot on average as last summer but as we know we were about to be hit with 9 straight days of 30+ in March of 2013.

Hey WesternTiger,

Has a SW wind with rain really blown into Warrnambool/Port Fairy or are BOM juggling the figures?

It's boiling hot up here.

Had a little bit of rain in the suburbs yesterday afternoon, but it didn't cool anything down, just settled the dust.

It was 40 here at 10.30 this morning. Really strong north wind. Scary day.

Just been down to Avenel and the outside temp hit 41, winds were getting nasty all the way back to wang, fingers crossed no fires

So 39 expected today at 20 tomorrow. Then a steady climb to the 30s. Makes it very tough to pack for a quick 2 week holiday back in Melbourne.

Don't worry about a 2 week holiday a quick trip down the shops can involve a singlet , shorts , sunscreen and a trench coat and beanie and umbrella
