Melbourne is an awesome team.
Got balance across every line.
And to think there were eight players aged 21 or younger.
They are the benchmaright for 2022.
And Oliver and Petracca are most welcome to come to Tigerland any time they like. Two very very good footballers.
Yes, great list build.

They are already talking about themselves as wanting to be a dynasty.

Getting ahead of themselves.

if they grabbed a 200/100 star kpf they could get all dynastical.

but i cant see tom mcdonald being a duel premiership players

i spose they have tomlinson to come back?

theyre certainly twice as good as 2nd best right now

Jackson strikes me as being stolen from a Far North Launceston logging family at birth and raised by Western Australians.

He fulfilled all my Ruckophile dreams yesterday.

a GF ruck mans game for the ages IMO
Ruckmen and GF, can earn their whole salary on one day.
Back to back talk already started.
whats the alternative when you are premiers?

Fair comment. I am only going by two people I knows opinion.

He holds grudges apparently.
I worked with Bevo and as far as I could tell he was a very nice bloke. Not a bighead at all, very approachable and a decent person.

Saw him one day watching a reserves game before 2016 and he seemed ok. Nice friendly

Seriously some clubs are stupid.
'The bulldogs will wait to see if Stef Martin wants to play on in 2022"
Shut the joint down

Dion and Oliver are closer. Dion is a much better player than Oliver, one of the best IMO but Oliver has a couple of years on him and hasn't needed time off in his career yet for injury.
Geez that's a real stretch HR. Dion much better? It's arguable that he's better at all. Right now Oliver is better player and he has 5 years in age on Dion. That's not in any way a knock on Dion; he is a star and has had a great career and is a Richmond legend in my opinion. But I'd have Oliver in front of him at the moment.

Plus Dion is becoming extremely injury prone as he gets older. He has missed a lot of football over the past two seasons. We really need him on the ground but it seems to be a real struggle for him at the moment. Hopefully he is back on track next year.

yep, late career injuries are hard to shake. I can't see Cotchin or Dion getting back to anywhere near were they were - Cotchin is obvious of course as he's been in decline as a player for the last three years. Dion maybe if he stays on the park. This is why I can't see us contending for a flag for the next few years. Our guns are old or injured, Melbourne's and Footscray's are on the up.

thought cutting the Welcome To Country short and crossing to the miming dinosaur Mike Brady in an empty stadium pretty depressing and poor taste from CH 7 ...

Also what happened with Goodwin not speaking? ( don’t know the reasoning around it so apologies if people have already thrown this up). Bit of a stuff up by Basil. Rushed ...

Pivotal was Jackson in the ruck during the third, Viney’s attack on the ball and Oliver’s shutdown of the Bont...

Also let’s hope night GF’s are out of the question.

Wasn’t it great the way it was umpired. Let the game flow at most stages and the only query ( was Gawns no goal/goal).
Was great not having Chambermaid ‘listen to me’ ‘don’t talk to me like that ‘ umpiring the GF.

Kudos to Melb. That’s all the love I have with them.

Can’t wait for Round 1 2022 at a packed MCG

Funny listening to the Melbourne fans ringing up the radio. Don’t think I’ve ever head so many followers of a club not know a particular player’s name or an assistant coach, CEO etc.

We may not like the Demons but overall, they were the class of the game yesterday all over the field so it is going to be interesting if they manage to reproduce it next season.
way back in 1982 was involved with Ormond in the VAFA and they seemed to have a connection with the Demons, same jumper design just blue & brown used the same theme song, and there guys around the club that had access to the Melb rooms after the games and we'd get stories about Barassi and some of the senior players
Then two guys I played briefly with in the seconds went on to play with Melb. Ricky Jackson and Simon Eishold so naturally always had a little interest for them.

I move to Canberra for work and that fades over time, Melb. are playing the Swans at Manuka and there is talk at the time of the Dees tanking for priority picks.
I dismiss that as rubbish talk , but leave the ground convinced they tanked. History tells us they got their priority pick and the talk then was with picks #1 & #2 they would just waltz up the ladder , success was assured. Their coach at the time was Dean Bailey and after having interactions with him at AFL Community week thought he was pretty decent and followed his progress. A poison culture seem to grow quickly in the club and Bailey , who seemed gentle , wasn't well regarded by the players and they duly threw him under the bus and they did similar to Mark Neeld and Neil Craig. PAul Roos was brought in to "save the club" and that he did , under Roos they certainly turned things around on the score board , but it seemed to come with an unhealthy dose of entitlement.

From 2008 -2014 we were bullied by a lot of sides , but the Dees must have been close to the top of the list, and post Roos leaving the Dees bullying weaker sides , playing faux tough guys and constantly trash talking seemed to be the norm.

I think it was 2019 , preseason they were flag fav. , in 2018 they won 4 of their last 5 charge up the ladder to 5th , they lose 5 of the first 6 games to be a write off for 2019 . Late in the season they are playing West Coast , who are finals bound. Pretty sure the Dees were 3 goals up at 3/4 qtr , towards the end of the 3rd qtr , their chests were out they were pushing and shoving everything in sight and trash talking. They lose the game by 2 goals. I'd been noticing that trash stuff for a while and thought what a rubbish club.

Roll forward to 2021 and you don't see that from them and as UK Tiger said they were class , so credit to who ever has turned that around . You could imagine Goodwin being a big part of it as trash talking and point scoring doesn't seem to be his thing.

all the talk is pumping up the Dees and trashing the Dogs and when you look at the final score , of course

but think back to the 12 min mark 3rd qtr, Bont goals and the Dogs were looking in control around 20 pts up

they score the next goal and the complexion of the game changes , and we know how they can come , a lucky bounce , a dodgy free

will that disappointment galvanise the Dogs or break them ?

I'm trying to stay away from the media pumping up the Dees, yes it was wonderful for them and their age bracket is amazing blah blah but for my brief 10 minutes reading the news I got articles talking of dynasty... Petracca is the next Dusty (yet to play and get another 2 Norms btw etc etc)... blah blah.

It's nice comparing them to the Tiges after one GF win but have gone premature. If anyone is offended report it and I'll remove :p .

agree. didnt notice the umps at all.

The GF is always well adjudicated. they must only have 3 good umps?

although Stevic said in an interview 'its not just another game, you umpire it different;y, let it go more'

begs the question, why not umpire round 1-23 like they are GFs?

and the Gawn no goal was very strange. It looked like it went straight through the middle. max thought so.
