I’ll bet they do a night Final next year, too. The captive audience and the weather will ensure good ratings and they’ll use that justify doing it again. Once the AFL get their way with things like this they don’t roll it back.

You are probably right, they have been spruiking the high tv audidence numbers, not mentioning that a lot of people that would have been at the game are now watching on tv. No *smile* eh Gill.
Unfortunately I think you will be right and the night GF will be here to stay. Hate it.
Everything theyve done this year will be rolled in going forward thats why theyve used this year to beta test them all.
Shorter games equals more games equals more TV rvenue, use fixture equalisation as the excuse.
There's no real legitimate reason it had to be a Night Grand Final lets be honest, just a reuse so they can roll it into the night going forward.

Wrecks post-match celebrations, especially for kids. Kids are getting increasingly forgotten in AFL scheduling.
Well this is it boys and girls. I've been keeping myself occupied all day so that the nerves don't build up too much. But now the TV is on and I'm about to pour the first drink.
I've received some support from mates that barrack for neutral clubs which is nice. Even my Port Adelaide supporting son in law is right behind the Tigers.
As is my way, the HMAS Quickdraw will now dip below the waves, commence silent running and observe radio silence.
The wet will help us. Bring the pressure boys!

Yep was talking to my kids about this earlier. I went to both the 2017 and 2019 at Punt Road with my now 12 year old and 10 year old. Being able to go and watch the Killers etc straight after the game and celebrate like that just made the night. Seeing Jack on stage singing Mr Brightside was a brilliant memory from that day. We wouldn't get this with late starts, even a twilight start probably takes out the after game concert at least for kids. Starting at the G at about 9-10am and heading home after the music at 8.30pm is a long day but doable with kids. Make that a 10pm finish and the kids probably don't go.
Exactly. AFL must remember it's the people's game, and the future of that resides with inspired, wide-eyed kids.
