I must have misread this then, my bad.

Nice editing Disco....this was the complete post:

At least he doesn't have this stupid Sheedy smirk.
God, felt like picking the widescreen up and tossing it through the window last night.
But then the Chairman hasn't given me his $900 "plasma donation" to go and buy a new one yet....so had to contain myself. ;D

I think anyone with half a brain can see i was being sarcastic with my comment, but nice try! :p

The fact you called it a "plasma donation" was what made me think you planned to spend your $900 on something along these lines. If you didn't, like I said, my bad.

BTW, if I was trying to fool anyone (like anyone else actually reads this) I wouldn't have left the link to your post there.

Yes, you bad.
But I think you knew what you were doing and just got caught out.
Better luck next post you try and take me out of context ;)

You don't see how your calling it a plasma donation could lead one to think that you were going to spend your $900 on something along these lines? As I said to Play Centre, this is what I thought.

You never answered my question either. How do you know who Play Centre voted for?

Me calling it a "plasma donation" doesn't mean I am going to spend the money on a plasma....but I am sure many others will use this money for exactly that.
I am sure I have heard the same term being used for the 'baby bonus' as well....

Just my intuition when it comes to people supporting the Chairman and his populist strategies ;)
I doubt very much that someone who did NOT vote for the Chairman would be sitting back today applauding his decisions...and in fact, I'm tipping many people who voted for the Chairman would be having regrets now about ther choice of PM.

Anyways, I'm sure Play Centre will be more than happy to say I am wrong and they voted for the Libs if that is the case.

You guys are hopeless. It's quite simple yet you have all these other agendas and arguments and diversions. Pointless trying to debate it really.

Except of course PC hasn't actually supported it. Didn't stop you calling him/her a fool though did it?

... or b. You're a hypocrite.

We have a winner.

Like a dog biting the hand that feeds it but lining up to be hand fed just the same. I'm also surprised at those protesting the N/S pipeline with rallies and barricades etc are quite happy to bank the cheques compensating them for the pipe going through their properties.

People are willing to rant and rave and criticise about something but don't have the same conviction if there are areas they can profit personally on. Definitely acting in contradiction to their stated beliefs or feelings ....thus hypocrites.

I'm crabby. Everyday I've checked our bank acct expecting the bouns but I found out yesterday we don't qualify. I had the money spent so many times in my mind too. :blah

I haven't got mine yet either, Rosy23, but that's because I only just did my tax return. Hope it bounces in soon. My car needs a service and new tyres and those credit card balances never seem to head in the right direction!

Liverpool, you might consider Berry St as a worthy cause? Maybe?
The RFC used to support them, I am not sure if they still do.

http://www.berrystreet.org.au/

I'm sure they could find a use for your unwanted 900 dollars.

Liverpool can be a bit crazy but calling him a hypocrite for accepting the $900 is not very well thought out argument.

Perhaps he is a hypocrite for baggin it though?

Not at all.

The idea of the $900 was for people to go out and spend it to stimulate the economy....correct?

If I am leaving my $900 sit in a bank until the Chairman stitches me up with higher taxes, his persistent push for a tax on alcopops, and the abolishment of the private health rebate....then I am correct in bagging the idea, as how is my $900 stimulating the economy?
Plus you say "give it back"...well, he'll be getting it back and some.

So its not hypocritical that I bag this hair-brained scheme....and its not hypocritical to slam this as a total waste of a surplus that the previous Government had left us.

No, why?

We are all entitled to have an opinion on how our taxes are being spent. It's a democracy after all.

It's a hair brained idea just giving people money to go and spend at Harvey Normans. Most of it just goes straight to China.

Seems to me if Swan really wanted to sustainably stimulate the economy he could spent the money on a new university, given it to the CSIRO or built a north south water pipe to assist the ever drying south east food bowl(for example).

If Liverpool is a hypocrite for taking the 900 then why aren't critics of capitalism hypocrites for accepting a job from one?

And the 'Chairman' comments? What's that about?

I nicknamed Rudd the "Chairman" for his similarities with Chairman Mao.

You can read some of the similarities here:

http://www.puntroadend.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=18541.msg905200#msg905200

Since then we have had the Chairman and Comrade Conroy introduce the idea of an "internet filtering" system, not to only prohibit illegal webpages but webpages the Government deem as 'unwanted'.
Very "China like" with this type of censorship, eh? ;)

Quite a number of economists agreed with the idea. eg.

The idea wasn't to do it in a sustainable sense, the idea was to provide an immediate stimulus to the economy to smooth out the downhill slide. The budget has provided more sustainable ideas.
