Chol kicks it real nice. And every now and then (cos that’s how often he gets his hands on the ball) he does a nice sidestep or something.
But what’s his position?
He doesn’t relish contact, which disqualifies him from playing perma-ruck.
Chf? Nah, not when the opposition doesn’t even need to play a tall on him to keep him quiet.
Chb? Enlighten me - when was the last time you saw Chol straight line the ball, wear a few hits on the way through, win the contest, and back up to do it again 10 more times in a game? “Pleasantly surprised” is not how you should feel when your chb turns up to influence a contest
Wing? Nah, how much game time can he handle again? 49%? Pfft. No wing for you Cholly my dude until you can keep up with Kmac.
Loose man/sweeper? I don’t know about you, but when I think about what the RFC needs more of, “Mabs running around the half back line being unaccountable but sometimes taking a mark” isn’t high on my list.
Small forward? Wrong height plus minimal physical presence plus zero defensive pressure equals Liam McBean. Except the beanster kicked more goals.
I know I’m probably being harsh on the guy, but his lack of physicality, accountability, ability to play out a game... it’s too much.
Athleticism and nice skills will make you stand out at VFL level, but in the seniors you need to show impact and edge. I think what we’re seeing now is peak Chol. Not sure that’s going to be enough.
