Goodbye Mabior Chol

His athletic attributes and the pre injury improvement last year indicate that we should give him another year.

His attributes would fill what I see as the biggest weakness in our side. His pace makes him a better second ruck than Soldo.

To me Soldo is a first ruck who rests on the bench. Still hopeful that he could play that role if Nank was unavailable

Can he be rookied again after already spending 3 years on the rookie list? Does delisting reset the clock for another 3 years?

Yes to part 1 of your question, not sure about the 2nd part

As many have said before Marbs is a bit of a long term project. Still only 21 & at 200cms, coupled with his vertical leap, is genuine ruck size but he's still a bit wet behind the ears.
I thought he took real steps forward this season before getting injured & by all accounts was closer to a senior birth than Cal Moore.
The timing of that injury was most unfortunate for him as we didn't get to see that apparent improvement at senior level.
I too will be very disappointed if he's not retained in some capacity. Won't be at all surprised to see another club swoop in here.

You sure about the first part??

I'm happy to trust that the footy department have a handle on the ruck situation.

As for Chol, when do you get good? Potential means nothing unless it's realised and he has been given more than enough time. He was an academy player at Brisbane who was dumped and given a lifeline when Leppa returned.

So he had two, maybe three, years at Brisbane and now three years with us and so far Ive seen him play about 15 minutes of good footy, and that was against the Bombers in Wangarratta this year.

No disrespect but at this point I think he is only worth a rookie spot

Think he showed enough in the last 3 years to indicate that he does have 'Something' that can be developed and worth keeping for another 1-2 years

He could become exactly what we are crying out for in 2019 if Nankervis goes down

Keep

He was in the Brisbane academy as an under 18, we rookie-drafted him at 18. He's now 21, which is very young for a man his height. He would have played this year if not for the untimely injury. He has ability; unless his attitude is really poor (and there is no indication of that), we should keep him.

Well he was a stick in his first 2 years , Think he was drafted as an 80kg 198cm stick

Not sure what people expect from a Rookie Ruckman it takes 5-6 years for them to fill out and get their craft good enough to compete

I thought in the pre season game v the Bombers in Wang he looked ok, & certainly not out of place in the centre bounces. Must admit did not see a lot of him in the 2nd's this year, but I think he is worth persevering with for at least next season

He showed quite a bit of improvement last year, before his injury. I think he is bound to be picked up before we get to our rookie selections. Disappointing decision . I would have let any of Drummond, Moore, Soldo and Townsend go before Cholly.

Moore is the one that really surprised me. I see more upside in Chol than Moore.
That said, one of the best things the club did in '17 was lose patience with those underachieving talls & go small. Maybe the footy dept is getting better at realising earlier which ones are a real shot at making it & which are the pretenders? We're better off turning players over than keeping guys like Vickery, Griffen & Elton on the list for umpteen years hoping that they come good.

Yep, occasionally one goes to Port and kicks 70 goals but not often. ;)

if we delist him he becomes a DFA, if noone else drafts him, we definitely can put him back on rookie list

Well obviously the Tigers expected more because he's been delisted. It will be interesting to see if any other club sees any more in him or whether we get to re-rookie him.
